We (me and my two sons) came to this restaurant to celebrate my son’s birthday. We were seated around 8:00 PM, ordered food and drinks, and spent well over $100. Food prices were okay, drinks were overpriced ($16 each), but still — fine.
Then came the shock.
After sitting inside the restaurant for about two hours, we stepped outside for a few minutes just to get some fresh air. When we tried to come back in, staff REFUSED to let us return unless we paid AGAIN — $35 PER PERSON.
Let that sink in:
We already had a table.
We were already customers.
We already paid a large bill.
And they demanded over $100 just to walk back to our own table.
I have NEVER seen anything like this in the USA . This is deceptive, greedy, and completely disrespectful to customers. There was NO clear warning, no explanation beforehand — just a surprise charge after you’re already committed.
This ruined my son’s birthday dinner.
Be extremely careful if you go here. Step outside for a minute, and you may be forced to pay again or be locked out. This place clearly prioritizes money over basic customer respect.Total we spent for food and drinks around 300$ tips ( they charge upfront )with and and another 100 $ paid for re-enter !! Total : 400 $ kind off expensive
The atmosphere was the first major letdown. Far from romantic, the restaurant was surprisingly loud and chaotic. We were seated at a table in a high-traffic area, constantly disrupted by people passing by. To make matters worse, a banquet hall behind a shared wall was blasting its own music, and the constant vibrations from the loud bass made for a truly unpleasant and uncomfortable dining experience. The overall vibe was tense, not at all conducive to a relaxing evening.
Our service started off pleasantly enough, with our server taking our drink and food order in a friendly manner. However, as the meal progressed, she became increasingly difficult to find. After finishing our food, we waited a considerable time for the check, eventually having to ask the bartenders to locate our waitress for us. This lack of attentiveness was certainly frustrating.
While the wine and cocktail we ordered were enjoyable, the food itself was a significant disappointment. We ordered the chicken with potatoes, and it arrived dry and flavorless. The saving grace was the cheese board, which, with its three types of cheese, is admittedly hard to ruin. We also had another appetizer that was unremarkable.
Given the loud, uncomfortable atmosphere, the spotty service, and the uninspired main course, we unfortunately will not be returning to Aragvi for a future dining experience.
Alesya was wonderful photographer and thanks for the amazing pictures!!!
Our group visited Aragvi restaurant to celebrate a birthday, but the evening was overshadowed by poor management and what felt like a “menu scam.”
Since our friends don’t speak Russian, I called a day ahead to pre-order. The hostess, Alika, insisted we triple almost every dish to ensure we had “enough.” I had my concerns, but trusted her judgment. We couldn’t have been more wrong. The amount of food was absurd—there wasn’t an inch of space left on the table, and the waiters actually laughed at us as they continued to pile more dishes on. For example, a meat pie cut into 12 large pieces was tripled to three full pies for our small group of 12.
To make matters worse, they attempted to charge us an additional $90 per person for a concert by Ivo Bobul happening in another room. We were in a private area, couldn’t see the performer, and were never told about this fee when booking or pre-ordering. We had to firmly refuse the $1,000+ “surcharge.”
Between the predatory up-selling, the hidden fees, and the mediocre food, I cannot recommend this establishment. Use caution if you decide to dine here.
Save your money and go somewhere that treats customers with respect rather than as a payday.
