Best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had at any restaurant. Lightly seasoned deliciousness. My server Brenda gave excellent service and suggestions as well overall 5 star service and food . It’s inside @ the TA truck stop would definitely recommend and return when in the area .

It was very good. We would eat there again. We originally planned to eat somewhere else but ended up stopping here because it was in the direction we were headed. We were glad we did. I ordered the breakfast burrito w/ hashbrowns, my dad ordered the chicken fried steak w/ mashed potatoes, and my mom ordered a sirloin w/ baked potato. We had each enjoyed our meals. Service was good.

I am so glad it is under new ownership. When it was Plaza Grills before, it wasn’t very nice.
Their chicken fried steak is the best in Kansas we have found.
Their Sunday buffet is really good.
They have really improved their wait staff response time.

Stopped for breakfast at Applewood. Nice place with friendly staff. Instead of having the buffet, we decided to place an order even though the buffet looked fresh and well stocked. Hubby had the breakfast special #1, which came with 2 over easy eggs, 2 bacon strips, 2 sausage links, hashbrowns, and a biscuit with gravy on it. He mixed it all together and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the sweet potato ham hash with 2 scrambled eggs and a biscuit. It was very tasty with the combination of the ham, egg, and potatoes. The coffee was nice and hot and very good as well. Our server was very attentive, and we enjoyed talking with her.

Second time swinging through here. Been a few years since I last passed through. Still the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had outside my grandma’s house as a kid. Good ol down home hospitality and service. Highly recommend this place. I will never not stop here when coming through.

The Best Chicken Fried Steak in Kansas! Shawn’s Chicken Fried steak meal is huge, and way better than “The Barn” in Burrton. It is breaded in house, not like the frozen dinner offered by “Carriage Crossing”(yuck).
