Reviews
First impression is alot of work went into the atmosphere. Beautiful tabels of re-purposed wooden doors.
The staff itself were very friendly, we did have to walk from restaurant to bar to find them. (Which to me isn’t a problem as it allowed me to see the beauty and time put into the building.)
Our server was a lovely lady by the name if Kara. She was very friendly and kind. Always checked up on us and kept our drinks full.
Now to the food and drinks.
I ordered a French Lavender mixed drink. And boy, was that drink delicious; reminded me of a nice summer day. It was refreshing but also very tasty.
I ordered the Venison&Boar pasta. Starting off it was very beautiful to look at and smelled even better. I was served a rather large portion. (Had to take some home!)
The pasta was cooked very well and the meat/mushroom mix was mixed and cooked to perfection.
My only complaint on the pasta is I myself would have liked more meat in it. Yes there was a decent amount. But more meat would have been appreciated with the amount of mushrooms.
I didn’t capture a photo but i did order the apple cider cheesecake.
It looked so good I didn’t even think of taking a photo until after it had been eaten.
A very nice mixture of apple cider and cheese cake. Not overly sweet, but also tasted of the fall season.
My partner ordered The Burger. He really enjoyed the burger. Cooked well and very juicy. Only complaint was the amount of pickles. Ended pulling out almost 4 pickles and could still taste them.
Overall I do think this bar&kitchen is a great addition to greenville. And they have really good food. ♥️
Now… the plot twist. Manager Ben promised a song if we hit $300. Well, challenge accepted, we hit $420. We ordered appetizers, drinks, full lunch, and dinner for later for four people. We cleared the bar. Sadly, no song. Not even a remix. No apology either.
Still, the food was so good we’d come back anyway just saying, Ben, we’re still waiting on that performance
Before going we reviewed the website and menu, we often do this so we can gauge how we should dress. In reviewing we noticed the least expensive shareable is a $12 queso, least expensive burger was $15 and for their larger plates, $40 steak. All in all the menu to use seemed to warrant dressing a bit better than “casual”.
In walking in the atmosphere didn’t seem to match the menu pricing. We were greeted on the dinner side door by a host wearing jeans and flannel, and the greeting was very informal, kind of what you would expect at a chain like Applebees.
The dining side was nearly empty between 5:30 and 8 on a Thursday.
The food was meh. I avoided ordering from the “larger” side because quite honestly the atmosphere nor staff gave me the impression that I would get what I would expect after paying $43 for a NY strip. I ordered the “Herb Chicken” described as “Marinated and herb seasoned breast, cheese blend, lettuce, bruschetta tomatoes, red onion, creamy dill dressing, naan bread”. I figured i was getting some sort of grilled chicken breast sandwich. What arrived was a wrap and it looked really good, however the chicken was cut so small you barely could tell there was any. The texture itself didn’t seem right, almost as if it was frozen at some point but to call it a “Marinated and herb seasoned breast” is extremely misleading.
My wife ordered the Jambalaya which was decent tasting but did not look like a jambalaya or eat like a true jambalaya. It was shrimp over rice with very little sauce on the rice itself. The shrimp’s were fairly large, and there was an adequate number of them and they were seasoned well.
The service was good, but the table we were seated at was distracting. It was difficult for my wife and I to have a conversation with the entire wait staff gathering around the computer monitor directly behind us.
Drink prices are a bit outrageous. $6 for a 1.5oz pour of Jim Beam? I would expect to pay that for maybe buffalo trace but not JB. Woodford reserve at $10?
All in all a decent one time experience which is disappointing, we were so looking forward to having what appeared to be a decent restaurant between Cedar and Greenville that would allow us to escape the norms of Applebee’s or the expense of places like the Chop House. Unfortunately this place misses that mark for us.
What a great atmosphere and delicious food. My wife had the Cola Braised Chicken + Chorizo Nachos and I had the Walleye Po’ Boy. We shared a bite or two of both entrees with each other and both were delicious.
The setting was spacious and relaxed.
We will definitely be back!
