Our order was to be ready at 4:46, we arrived about 10 mins early and parked. We sat until 5:01 pm since it looked rather busy inside and it was a Friday night. After a 15 minute wait, my husband called, and the employee who answered advised she was waiting on my waffle fries. The order came out a few minutes later. She apologized and said it was a whole thing trying to get the fries dropped.
Once we arrived home, I opened my burger and it was scattered everywhere. I put it back together and proceeded to eat. I’m assuming that all the food was finished long before the waffle fries were cooked. My burger was oddly dry, yet somewhat pink, lacking in the sauce department, and the 1/2 the bacon uncooked fatty pieces. The fries were dry as well. My husband didn’t enjoy his fajita roll up, and the chicken in our wonton tacos was chewy.
So overall; it was a dinner that we ate MAYBE a 1/4 of. I doubt we’ll be back anytime soon. We used to love Applebees, so it’s disappointing.
The problem started when our main entrées arrived and my steak was extremely undercooked. I had ordered medium well and it was still very red. My husband politely mentioned it and simply asked if it could be remade — no attitude, no scene, just a normal request.
A male manager then came to the table and the interaction was very uncomfortable. He looked at the steak, said “okay,” and then just stood there without explaining anything or communicating with us. It felt very standoffish and awkward, which made the situation feel way more tense than it needed to be.
We do appreciate that the steak was taken off the bill, especially since we did not ask for that. However, it also felt like our server may have been scolded for something that honestly seemed like a common kitchen mistake. He was kind and professional, and we had no complaints about him.
I also overheard another staff member in the restroom who sounded overwhelmed and frustrated, which made the overall environment feel like employees may not be getting the support they need during busy times.
If the manager had simply communicated in a friendly, human way, the entire experience likely would have felt much better.
This review is meant as constructive feedback. Better communication and calmer customer interaction would go a long way in improving the experience.
I had the cheeseburger quesadilla, which was not as good as I’ve had at other locations. Nothing wrong with it, but just not great when it’s not piping hot.
If you want average food, in an average atmosphere, this is your place. There are SO many better places, including right across the street, this just doesn’t cut it any more. And at over $80 for one beer, two sodas, tax and tip for 3, the value isn’t great either.
It’s not bad, it’s just not what you think of when you think of good food….
