Last night, my girlfriend and I visited this Applebee’s location for the very first time, arriving at 10:20 PM. We sat at the bar expecting basic hospitality and professionalism. Instead, we experienced one of the most uncomfortable and unacceptable dining experiences we’ve ever had.
The bartender — a young gentleman with braids — did not acknowledge or greet us until roughly 10:25–10:30 PM. That delay was not the issue. What followed was.
Immediately after taking our drink order, he loudly yelled across the bar, “Does anybody want another drink before I go home at 10:30?” That statement alone was shocking. It was disrespectful, unprofessional, and made it very clear that customers were an inconvenience. Another guest young lady even joked, “It’s only 10:30 — that’s last call, not kicking everybody out because you want to go home.” Unfortunately, that comment summed up the entire experience.
The drink we were served was extremely weak — mostly juice — and it felt intentional, as though the bartender wanted to ensure we would not order another one. From the moment we arrived, we were rushed, dismissed, and made to feel unwelcome.
To make matters worse, we don’t know his name the bartender never introduced himself, never displayed a name tag, and gave us no way to identify him. There is also a large sign clearly stating that if guests are not offered gift cards, they receive a free appetizer on their next visit. This was never mentioned to us even once. While we have no intention of returning, it further demonstrates a complete lack of training and accountability.
Even more concerning, during the entire 25 minutes we were in the restaurant, not a single manager was visible. No manager checked on guests, no manager supervised the bar, and no manager was present to prevent or correct this behavior. That absence reflects a serious breakdown in leadership. Even when nother table requested manager none came out maybe after we left
Let me be absolutely clear. If this establishment closes at 11:00 PM, then guests should be served properly and professionally until 11:00 PM. Employees do not get to decide to shut down service early because they want to go home.
This was our first visit, and it will absolutely be our last — not only to this location, but to Applebee’s as a whole. I own a company and regularly take my employees out — sometimes two people, sometimes five or six. That consistent business will never go to Applebee’s.
I sincerely hope this review is taken seriously and reviewed directly by Todd Cummins and Mr. Seaman. This is not about punishment — it’s about leadership, accountability, and ensuring guests are treated with respect. What happened last night was unacceptable and completely avoidable.
Extremely disappointing. Unprofessional. And a total failure of management.
I ordered the chicken parm expecting it to look like what was advertised, but what I got looked nothing like it. When I asked the manager if he saw anything wrong with it, he simply said, “No, it looks just like chicken parm to me.” Honestly, that response was just as disappointing as the meal itself. Poor quality and even worse customer service. I won’t be returning.
I will be sure to sit at the bar every time she’s here and happy birthday
