Best French toast I’ve had in a while. Thick and buttery, soaked up the syrup really well. Definitely add the eggs and hashbrowns, you won’t regret it. The waitress was awesome, great personality and smile. Thanks for brightening my day.

It’s a truck stop. It’s a nice truck stop. The food is Awesome, the service is awesome. Prices are high and they used to give a cinnamon roll with the meals, now they don’t.
Back again. Ordered the Not Your Classic Rueben with fries. Solid sandwich, perfect for a nice lunch. Food quality is still good. Not much sourkraut on the rueben though.

Ordered the hamburger steak and eggs, sunny side up with seasoned potatoes to go. I have a service animal and prefer to eat in the truck. Don’t know exactly what happened, but there was no runny yolk to the eggs, and one looked like it was already chewed. The seasoning on the eggs was great. I could order just eggs next time and be happy. The seasoned potatoes where salty as heck, even the dog spit it out. The toast wasn’t. It was just buttered soggy bread. The hamburger steak was fantastic. Moist, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Even with all the issues, still a better breakfast than this trucker sees most days.

I am very sad that when ai arrived I was waiting for the waiter to sit me down. But a couple told me excused me, I told them that I was waiting to be sit down. The guy say you sit yourself. So so I did. I look at the menu, waited, waited, waited. No thing the couple got their order? Two more drivers got the order. Then she close the restaurant entrance becaused it was to many for just one waiter. I am sad that this place has no people to served. Don’t have a sign wait for the server to sit you. That way she knows who came first. I went told the manager of the store, she told no sit down, to get my order to go. So I eent back told the waiter that I need it my order to go, becaused I did not want to wait for her to go to my table. After she already took the orders of everyone after me. She blew me off, I guess this place can close the doors when they want and blew off customers. Is sad that SAPP BROTHERS is good store, but they should not have a restaurant that blew your customers away.
I will never go back to cracker barrrel again bad management bad waiter. One for the whole restaurant. But she blew me off, instead of telling me I am sorry it will not happens again.

I’m glad I decided to eat here while in Council Bluffs my server was very kind and attentive and the portions were huge, the picture I took was just one dish I ordered, chicken fried steak with pancakes & seasoned breakfast potatoes & eggs. I had leftovers. Everything was so delicious!

Worst visit every at apple barrel restaurant waiting an hr for my food. When people that came after me receive theirs ate and ready to pay for their ticket before I even received mines. Not to mention everything I ask for they was out of. When the food came out it was awful dry greasy chicken breast split in half, cold green beans & gravy , soggy fries where they pour gravy on the side. Everybody else food looked delicious and well prepared. Talked with the cook and staff because no manager was on site. I ask him did he want to see my plate and He told me he knew it looked like that and offer me fifty percent off. Wow. Maybe because I’m a black woman and my husband and I was only black people there everyone else’s was white. Percival Iowa disappointed truck driver

This place is very comfortable and quiet and the waitresses are super sweet. But honestly, my favorite part of this restaurant is the bathroom lol. I have never been in such a fancy bathroom in my life. Just go there. Unfortunately, the men do not have a bathroom like us women do so it sucks to be men but, if you are a woman you will absolutely love the bathroom. Lol.
The food is delicious and well prepared. The last thing I had there the last time I went there was the chef salad and it was amazing. Highly recommend it.
The gift shop next to the restaurant is also a nice place to go and look around or purchase something too. A lot of pretty and inexpensive items.

If what you’re looking for is a truck stop restaurant, you’ll probably be pleased when you come in. It is located near the back of a Sapp Brothers truck stop/gas station. Across the front of the restaurant there is a counter, and tables are arranged through the rest of the restaurant. At the entrance there is a cooler displaying a variety of pies that you can order by the slice or take an entire pie along with you when you leave.
Service is prompt, the waitresses are friendly, and the serving sizes are generous. One of the best items I’ve found on their breakfast menu are the seasoned potatoes (photo below), they have an intriguing variety of spices on them, and they are properly crisped for texture. The sausage links I had were not the usual store-bought that you can make for yourself at home, and were better than average in flavor. Eggs sunny side up had lacy edges, something that a good fry cook knows how to create.
I didn’t get a picture, but patrons near me ordered chicken fried steaks. The steaks almost covered the plate and were covered in country gravy. Their eggs and potatoes came on a separate plate. Unless you’ve got a huge appetite, I doubt that you’d manage to finish that meal. Definitely worth the price, which they had originally questioned as being out of line with some of the other breakfast options on the menu.
The prices are reasonable, portions generous and atmosphere is friendly. I try and get there every month or so, and I have yet to be disappointed. It’s located just a minute off of I-80 at the 24th Street exit in Council Bluffs, really convenient if you’re just traveling through the area.
