I had a wonderful experience at this newly opened Japanese restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious — incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. Every dish was perfectly balanced and tasted amazing.
Our absolute favorite from the menu was the curry udon beef and filet mignon skewers— rich, comforting and perfectly cooked beef, and amazing depth of flavor. Truly outstanding and something we would come back for. Mochi was also very delicious.
The service truly stood out. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive, always happy to offer recommendations and check in to make sure everything was okay. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a lovely, almost family-like vibe.
The interior design is beautiful and adds to the overall experience. This place offers a fantastic dining experience from start to finish and is definitely worth recommending. We will absolutely be coming back!

Amazing food and service. We got some yakitori to start which was delicious. The ramen was super flavourful and they were happy to customise it slightly per my preference (I requested no onions). Service was very fast and waitress was super friendly.

Appe Izakaya in Downtown Huntington Beach right across the street from the Sugar Shack and next to the parking structure, is a total gem! The chicken teriyaki bowl was perfectly flavorful and satisfying, and the eel skewer and tongue skewer were absolute standouts — tender, expertly grilled, and packed with authentic izakaya flavor. Great food, great vibes, and top-notch quality all around. Can’t wait to go back! Also, try their strawberry lemonade, one of the best I’ve had anywhere!

Great atmosphere with fantastic service! The mango iced green tea was amazing. We got chicken thighs, eel, pork belly and beef medallion skewer. My girlfriend loves the eel. I thought the chicken thighs were especially good, with the skin having a deep flavor that made it very enjoyable. The steak had that great Izakaya smokey flavor. It was a good cut of meat. My girlfriend enjoyed it as well but desired some salt. Overall a great spot for a quick bite

Outstanding!!! It’s super delicious. High quality fresh iconic food. Fried rice – no doubt, it was the best fried rice in my life. Very big variety of skewers – be careful, you might spend all your money on those . Almost forgot – fried fries were also better than anywhere else, so good!

Amazing food. Everything we had was delicious. And the service was as amazing. The lady was very friendly, helpful and attentive. I ended up trying the curry ramen beef and was not disappointed. Highly recommend anyone to give this place a try.

Ate here with my son, we got ramen, some garlic and asparagus skewers, their house special Appe chicken, the edamame egg rolls, and finished the evening with a fried banana and iced cream. Everything was absolutely delicious (definitely try the Appe chicken!), the service was super attentive, and the owners were lovely. Two thumbs way up, we will totally be back to this place and I strongly recommend it if you’re in downtown HB and looking for great food and a family atmosphere.

The service was really good and the server was friendly. We had green tea, crispy calamari, spicy shrimp, the chicken and onion skewer, peppers and the Ramon. It was all delicious. We will definitely be back. I think sharing many small plates is the way to go.

This fantastic little Japanese style restaurant in the heart of Huntington Beach is just what downtown HB needed. The staff is super friendly, the food is very tasty and the atmosphere is nice and cozy.
Located just a few steps off of Main Street this restaurant is absolutely worth a visit.
We tried Ramen, Curry Udon and a variety of the Yakatori skewers. All of the choices were delicious.

We live in the neighborhood and have been meaning to try Appe out since they opened. We weren’t disappointed. The tempura was crispy without being greasy. The ramen was soul-satisfying, especially on a rainy day. We came for good food, but we’ll definitely come back for the service. The server was so warm and welcoming, as if it were her home!
