Very solid beer offerings. Spacious with many wines including many organic wines but the last two times if been I’ve gotten a half case mix of best recs from the shop and both times almost all wines fell flat. Wine taste is subjective but I know my way around wine decently well and still not much impressed. I feel like they could use staff that know their wines better thus the lower ratings

I’ve been enjoying the beauty of the Appalachian Vintner for many years. Somehow, I’ve never reviewed it. Insert every single possible superlative about the selection, the service, and the employees here. This is the place to go if you need beer you can’t get elsewhere in town or wine that is better than grocery store fare. Be sure to be descriptive when you tell the staff what type of wine you are looking for, they love the challenge and they won’t steer you wrong.

This is THE BEST stocked beer and wine store I have ever visited, bar none. We were looking for some German radlers and they not only had the brand we loved, they had the maker’s full line. We had no idea this brewer had 6 other beers.
And when we asked about beers brewed with tart cherries, the assistant gladly spent time showing us beers and lambics from the US, Belgium and Germany.
Very friendly. Very helpful.

Wanted to grab a nice port wine and cider for my trip. The person who helped me was beyond nice and knowledgeable! They went out of their way to help me find exactly what I needed. Greatly appreciate the calm, friendly atmosphere and expertise this place offers. Will definitely be back 🙂

Amazing collection of craft beer. Enjoy a draft while you shop. Some refrigerated, most on the shelf. Very helpful staff.

One of the coolest and best places to get a bottle of wine or beer. Their selection is awesome. We drink a ton of craft beers and are always keen on trying something new. Appalachian Vintner has a great mix of local beers as well as others that are more difficult to find. Many are cold and ready to drink, others are stocked on the shelves, some are even sold as singles. During Covid they’re taking extra precautions that we really appreciate such as having hand sanitizer at the entrance and making sure everyone including staff has a mask on. If you’re looking for a place to get a quick six pack or something special, we recommend this one. Parking is free and easy. There’s also an area with some snacks and gifts like t-shirts and hats.

Stopped by for a beer to enjoy with our pizza we got from next door (which I recommend). I wasn’t expecting to enjoy AV as much as I did. I thought it was more of a wine store with some beer, but no it’s just as much of a craft beef store! They had some great top rated beers on tap and in cans/bottles.
It’s comfortable in there to sit back and enjoy a beer or two. Great place to escape the tourist crowds.
We enjoyed hanging out that we grabbed another beer and got some French Broad chocolate to pair with it.
Fantastic service! Be sure to check out the patio out back past the restrooms.

Place had a great selection of beer, wine and bitters. Was also able to get a new Mead and a new sake to try. Many of the beers can be purchased as individuals to try which is nice.

Good selection. Great service. Went in looking for plum wine and Moscato. Came out with plum wine, Moscato, and a bunch of other tasty alcoholic beverages.

Had a Stout at a restaurant in Tennessee over a year ago, and it was the best I ever had! I loved it so much that I tried finding it, but to no avail no matter where I called or Googled, I even called the brewery that invented this flavor, Kalamazoo Stout in Michigan by a company called Bell’s. They were completely out of stock and couldn’t brew it fast enough, especially if you weren’t a store buying 100′ of cases…Today, walked into this place I went into out of the blue in Asheville NC and asked a sale’s person about this flavor and they immediately walked me to the back of the store and low and behold, 2 six packs of the famous bottled Kalamazoo Stout. I bought them both!
