When a brewery has a full bar and a legit food menu I’m on a little high before I even order. And you know I’m a sucker for a smashburger. And when it’s the only burger on the menu, even better. The Appalachian Smash comes with cheddar, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion – and I got the double. The flavor on this one was strong – well-seasoned and juicy. Perfectly cooked. This brewery knows how to make a great burger. My only critique would be that the cheese was a little skimpy and I would do a more melty cheese on a smash burger. So I’m giving it an A- but it was so close to an A. My side upgrade was worth every bit of $2 – brussel sprouts tossed in pomegranate vinaigrette with candied pumpkin seeds and goat cheese. I can always appreciate a classic burger side but when a road-less-taken side presents itself I’m all-in. So this ‘taproom and kitchen’ might brew great beer but the kitchen is brewing up some greatness of its own. Cheers to Appalachian Mountain Brewery for a strong classic smashburger and delicious Brussels on the side!

Extremely dog friendly!
Self-serve system, self-bussing system.
On a cold wet day, it was a perfect escape to have a warm bite inside a cozy atmosphere with fellow doggies! Definitely one of Asheville’s areas best kept secrets but the secret is out! I’m spreading the news!
It’s a shame that more places don’t let people bring dogs inside, this place has a recipe for success. Come be part of the early pioneers of Mills River!
Only thing its lacking inside is games for kids but tbh, that’s up to the parents. Beautiful artwork inside and plenty of outdoor seating and entertainment.
I ordered the Just peachy: Super yummy if you like peach and goat cheese. I think this was an awesome combo. I was definitely a fan. The fries are waffles fries but they have some sort of seasoning or batter on them, they weren’t bad. My fiancé got the hawt chicken sandwich, she said it was good. There are lots of options for beer. I had the blueberry lemonade (non-alcoholic) it was refreshing after being out all day. I could really see myself coming here again if I’m in the area. It’s definitely my kind of seen.
The person taking orders was mostly nonverbal. I think we were a bother, maybe because it was our first time and we had to read the menu?
The outside picnic tables were pleasant. The road noise wasn’t really a problem.
They have a few toys for kids and several cornhole sets.
