Apni Rasoi helps round out the substantial variety of offerings at The Heist, a relatively new cart pod in a former bank location on SE Woodstock. While on the topic of substantial – both my Chicken Tikka Masala and my friend’s Lamb Vindaloo provided us with leftovers that went well beyond the day of our visit. The naan was fantastic – served warm, soft, and perfectly chewy, wrapped in foil. Our food arrived quickly, and a buzzer made it easy to find seating wherever we wanted, without having to hover to know when the order was ready The location is terrific – there’s outdoor seating and a spacious indoor area with a bar, a coffee shop, and lots of tables in a robbery themed repurposing of the building.

This is a must try place! I stumbled upon them by accident, was walking down Woodstock with a friend and the delicious smell of the curry steered us away from our previous path.
I got the lamb curry, and OH MY GOD. The chunks of lamb were big, they were tender… The curry itself was just incredible… Quite effectively the best lamb curry I’ve ever had. I will definitely be back for more, and soon!!

It took me a couple of years to track him down but this is the guy who used to cook at the indian dhaba cart near PSU University. His cooking is exceptional. If you are Indian and you ask for “Desi style” you will be rewarded with real authentic and good grief, just delicious food. Yes while he was cooking I put on more than a few pounds. No I’m not a freshman, but believe me when I say I know my Indian food and this food is exceptional without doubt. The menu here is limited and I’m not really sure why but I think it’s due to the licensing around the cart. Also you don’t need to try everything. His Jalfrezi and his vindaloo oh my goodness me I buy them in fours and freeze the others because I have to make a bit of a trek to get there. I’m traveling in Southeast Asia at the moment but when I return I’ll be adding many more photographs as I work my way through every single item of his menu

Well when my nose makes me follow the smell I know I’m on to something good. I could smell this cart nearly across the street which is a great indication, I ended up getting the lamb Marsala and it was super good. Really creamy rich and not super spicy which is great because heart burn makes me want to die.

Apni is outstanding. 100% scrumdidlyumptious. My wife isn’t a very adventurous eater but the aroma lured her in and got her to try something new. She was recommended the Chicken Korma, sold by it being “creamy onion based,” and it did NOT disappoint. Don’t let the picture fool you, there is a generous helping of chicken beneath all that delicious sauce. My favorite so far has been the Chicken Saag, and don’t even think about skipping out on the Garlic Naan. 5/5 on the scale.

So good all the time, I’m a repeat customer. Love the masala. Also the mango lassi is something you must try. I took several friends and gotten rave reviews.

Amazing food, I know they make pretty much everything from scratch, and they’re the nicest guys.
Portion size is great too, the Biryani is enough to feed 2-3 people and the Naan is HUGE.

Love this Indian food cart. If you ask nicely and are a regular customer they sometimes throw in goodies. Good consistent quality and flavors and great service with a smile.

5 stars for now but might be reducing that. Here is why:
Have eaten here twice. Both times and both dishes were delightful and tasty. However, twice I have gone ack to eat and it is closed up. No sign for hours, no notice as to why it is closed or when they will be open.
Of the times I have eaten here once was a 20-30 something young man and he was easy to talk to and was able to make some minor adjustments to our meals. For mine he took a Lamb Tika Masala and did 50% chicken to try it out.
On another visit we had some Naan and a curry dish. It was also very good.
I would return but I don’t know when they will be open. If I end up going a third time and find them closed I will have to put a notice in to Google that they are closed for business.
