Our server was super attentive and sweet; the moment we sat down she brought us warm miso soup without us even asking, which was such a welcoming touch. The whole experience felt warm and caring.
We’ll definitely be back soon—APA just became our new go-to sushi spot in Maple Grove! Highly recommend!
Apa Sushi is the sister/brother restaurant to Ama and Momo Sushi, which have been some of my favorite spots for fast-casual but actually good sushi in Minnesota for almost a decade now. Growing up in the suburbs, I used to drive into the city every time I wanted a solid sushi lunch special. Now that Apa opened, I don’t need to look anywhere else. I’ve already gone twice within their first week.
The lunch specials are honestly unbelievable. The service is warm, genuine, and consistent. And the quality? High+++ every single time. Out of all their locations, this one might be my favorite so far — super clean, really well put together, and it just has a calm, inviting energy that makes you want to stay.
I’m genuinely excited for everyone who lives nearby. I can’t recommend this place enough. I know I’ll be back at least once or twice a month, and I’ll keep posting photos whenever I can.
And shoutout to my favorite server, Lucy!!!
My recommendations:
• Best deal: Sushi Bucket
• Any of the lunch specials
• Carashi bowl
• Torched salmon
• Scallop hand roll
• Golden salmon
The people that work there were so attentive, the food was delicious and came out fast.
We started with a free bowl of the best miso soup I’ve ever had (I don’t normally like miso soup) and a shot of a high end sake for opening weekend. We then had the momo (dumplings) which were ok, and that’s the lowest point of the meal. The salmon sushi appetizer and the momo roll were AMAZING!
Just go.
They always provide the most kind service and the food never misses. I’ve been going to momo sushi for years and I am so happy to support all their locations.
The Hamachi Kama is the best in MN!
Pictured items we had:
– Squid Salad & Seaweed Salad
– Rosy Sake Cocktail
– Seafood Soba Soup
– Spicy Scallop Hand Roll
– Jumbo Shrimp Sushi (eat the deep fried shrimp head, the best part!!!)
– Uni Sushi (so creamy and delicious)
– Hamachi Kama (Deep Fried Yellowtail Collar, so good with their ponzu sauce it is our family go-to)
– Sashimi Deluxe (never misses)
Go try it, go support them & continue to support them!
We’ve been twice now, and it’s quickly become a go-to. The restaurant is spotless, the sushi is incredibly fresh and high quality, the prices are fair, and the décor creates a really nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!
There were two different types of soup in the bag. The one that had a mushroom in it was the best! The fried rice that came with the order was a generous portion but it didn’t have peas or carrots like I’m use to. Still good though.
If I went back I would get something spicy with chicken because the spices seemed excellent!
The menus themselves are a bit irritating to handle. They do not stay open without a fight and the font is difficult to read, which makes the ordering process less smooth than it should be. The service had a few issues, although the restaurant is new and it is reasonable to expect they will work through those early kinks as they settle in.
After living and working in Japan, you get used to the level of detail and care that is common there with Japanese owners and operators, so most places here naturally feel a bit different in comparison. Overall it is a good place that delivers exactly what you would expect, nothing more and nothing less. That is the reason for the four star rating.
