So happy I booked this original arty restaurant during our holiday in the Alsace region as it was an amazing and unique culinary experience! This charming gem with a warm exceptional atmosphere in an artistic setting is located in the picturesque village of Riquewihr. The magnificent refined wooden tables are arranged with the right distance to ensure comfort and privacy and the “mise en place” is cared for in every detail. The creative dishes of the menu were all truly delicious, carefully prepared, perfectly balanced and full of flavour! We especially loved the playful and yummy dessert entitled “MONI-K-BILL”, a burning chocolate cigare (a dessert to remember for sure! :))
A superb unforgettable dining experience! Highly recommended!
A must-visit when in the Alsace!

Dining at AOR was an incredible experience – truly a culinary work of art! The dishes have a very creative, almost poetic touch, both in flavor and presentation. Ingredients were extremely fresh, and the combinations were consistently surprising and absolutely delicious.
The atmosphere is warm and unconventional – you ring the doorbell to enter and step into a charming, bohemian world full of art pieces and personality.
Chef Serge – part rockstar, part poet – creates surprise menus perfectly suited to the evening. Each course was a flavor journey and a visual highlight, with unique, artfully plated combinations that linger in your memory.
Service, ambiance, and the quality of both food and wine are top-notch. If you’re looking for exceptional cuisine in a personal and inspiring setting, this is the place to be. Highly recommended for anyone who seeks inspiration on the plate!

Our last dinner of 2025 in AOR was probably one of the best culinary experiences we’ve ever had. Serge and Sabine were perfect hosts, made sure all guests felt welcome. Every dish looked incredible and tasted even better! Quality was outstanding and we enjoyed a variety of culinary delicacies, generously added to the planned set menu. Highly recommend and would not hesitate to eat there again!

Ill be brief… brilliant! Easily on par with one and two star establishments in Paris. Every dish was a delight…in most tasting menu situations there is at least one dish where you think, this one isn’t as good, but that was not the case here. Every course was wonderful, the wine pairings were on point. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

Very good food (except for dessert, although interestingly served). Prices very high. Served by a married couple and they are a bit creepy. Overall, however, the place is worth recommending.

This restaurant deconstructs the fine dining experience where there can be stiff formality and power dynamics which are unpleasant. Here you ring the doorbell to be let in and welcomed as to someone’s home. The dining area is liberally scattered with quirky objets d’art. Once at the table you are asked about your likes and dislikes before the meal but you don’t get to choose the menu…it is all a mystery until it arrives. We did the 4 course wine pairing and the wines were high quality and of course local….the cuisine is clearly Asian influenced and beautifully cooked and seasoned. The Chef Serge Burckel helps with service and talks to the Diners. All in all one of the best experiences (not just a meal) we have ever had. Humorous quirky, genuine and heartfelt.

What an exceptional and rare opportunity to experience a night of dining that awakens not just the palate. From the moment you ring the bell to being immersed in the space, it feels as if you have entered your coolest friend’s house.
The ambiance at AOR is simply magnificent. The host and the chef welcome you and make you feel a part of their lives while sharing the years of culinary knowledge and presenting a special menu with so many delicious courses. Thank your for the wonderful experience.

Absolutely outstanding from the first bite to the last. The chef himself comes by to ask if you have any allergies or dislikes, and he builds the meal around fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. One person at our table had a free things she wouldn’t eat, one other had different things, and chef Serge prepared some different dishes to satisfy our wants. Delicious!

Absolutely exquisite! You can only prepare cuisine like this with love and supreme devotion. Each course was a symphony of taste, beautifully presented—a unique creation with surprising spices and flavors. We will remember this evening and Serge Burckel for life. We’ve been to fine restaurants throughout the world, but this one is unique. Read the passage on the entry sign for a glimpse of the philosophy behind this place.

An experience that is about more than the food.
We got off to a poor start when they left us on the doorstep for 5 minutes, but that was soon forgotten after the 5 course surprise tasting menu.
The restaurant is full of art, including the tables themselves, made from thick slices of tree trunk.
The food was excellent, tasty snacks, beautiful salmon tartar, scallops, the sauce in the main course beautifully flavoured, only the beef itself was a little tasteless, but is that because we’re used to eating properly marbled British beef? The chef gave it every chance.
