Really good sushi and a lovely modern space. Great spot for a sushi date. They have lots of options outside of sushi as well. I recommend getting a reservation – the space is small and fills up fast.

Wow terrific traditional Japanese options as well as plenty of your standard American-expected sushi and sashimi choices. This place is popular, not large, and fills up quickly – reservations are highly recommended. Although you might be able to sneak into a single seat at the sushi bar.

Boulders best sushi spot without a doubt with a fantastic menu. My overall experience going to AOI had been great over the several times I’ve been. The only shortcoming I’ve noticed is a lack of attentiveness from servers but that isn’t always consistent. In the end AOI is a place I’d recommend to any sushi lover.

I am quite perplexed writing this review because even though the food was authentic and delicious, I cannot give this restaurant more than 3.5 stars. Today I visited this restaurant with some friends to celebrate a birthday. We were very disappointed because there was not a wide selection of drinks. The restaurant was small, so there is not a full bar. There was no music playing and the ambience of the place just felt off. The only thing that made this experience memorable was the presence of my friends. We had asked the waitress for a glass to pour water into twice because there were five of us, and only four spots were set up on the table even though we made a reservation for five people a week in advance. We never received that glass. The service was also slow. We received our appetizers approximately 30 minutes after ordering and our main course approximately an hour after ordering, so if you are just looking to enjoy some authentic food with some close, loved ones, this restaurant might be a good, mellow fit. But if you are looking to celebrate a special person, I would opt for some thing

This is good sushi, period! The fish is extremely fresh. I don’t know if they have a cave-cove in the back or what, but it’s the tastiest fish west of LA.

Went in for dinner with two others, one of whom had very little experience with Japanese food. We decided to order a little bit of everything to really try this place out and we were not disappointed. I can count the number of times I’ve had a better Japanese meal in the States on one hand, and I’ve sought out some of the best places in NYC, the Bay Area, and Houston. AOI is in the top echelon, IMO. First off, we tried some uni, which was fresh and delicious. We tried the hijiki, kinpira, tsukemon, and mentaiko, all of which were exceptional. The hijiki and mentaiko, in particular, were authentic and tasted just like they did in Japan. From there, we moved on to agedashi tofu (10/10!!), tori age (6/10), ika geso age (7/10), and ebi wontons (8/10), all of which were executed very well. Finally, we ended with the sashimi platter. I don’t normally care for albacore, but this was superb! The salmon and tuna were also truly exceptional and melt-in-your mouth! Considering the quality of the meal, I also found AOI to be an overall excellent value. It’s not cheap, but it’s well-priced for Japanese food. We will be back very soon!

We absolutely love this place! Been here twice in the last couple months and it has easily earned a spot in our favorites rotation! The staff is very friendly and service is fast and efficient. Both times we sat at the sushi bar as I love watching them prepare the sushi. I loved all the unique appetizers we ordered, and the sushi was fresh and high quality! Highly recommend and looking forward to our next visit!

This was not my first visit. I made a reservation. We arrived timely at 5:30 pm. On a Thursday. We were greeted warmly and seated. We efficiently placed our order. We were warned we had 90 minutes at our table. We placed our drinks and first course selections, followed by sashimi, sushi roll, and small plate main entrees. We ordered a final main course dish which put us over the 90 minutes. We were presented with the bill before the final course was served and told next time if we wanted to order this seafood stew custard we need to order it at the start because it takes 20 minutes to prepare!

Just had Sushi Den in Denver. Yeah it had more appeal and fancy decor, but when it comes to flavor and service….this place tops it. Eat here first then try Sushi Den and you’ll understand.
