Loved this place!
It was an old blacksmith shop..so it has a lot of character and old world ambiance. Their outdoor patio is elevated along the creek with the sounds of a beautiful waterfall adjacent. Our only disappointment was that the fall leaves had yet to turned color. The inside dining was alive with diners. There was an interesting loft dining area as well. We choose to dine outside along the creek. I had the BLTC ..cherry wood bacon, cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce and mayo on freshly baked dough from their stone hearth oven, fries included. It. was. delicious. I also shared a bowl of the ‘Dewey sausage ‘ soup. It too was very good. Prices were reasonable and we left feeling like hadn’t just eaten at ‘any of a dozen similar places’.
Highly recommend.

Great place for lunch in Cedarburg! The Anvil has amazing sandwiches that I would highly recommend. Their homemade thin bread totally makes the sandwiches. We’ve sat outside a few times now during the summer, and the views are like no other, which the gorgeous river. The staff is super friendly, and the service is fast. Highly recommend the chicken club!

Lovely historic building right on the river. The food is great and the service is fast and friendly. They even have a small upstairs area for extra seating where you can look out over the restaurant.

The staff at The Anvil is amazing—truly friendly and attentive, which we really appreciated. It had been about five years since I last ate here, and honestly, it may be another five before I return. I had high hopes for dinner, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to them.

I ordered the shrimp orzo dinner. The shrimp came butterflied with the shells still on, but there was no extra dish provided for the shells, which made things a bit messy. The shrimp also wasn’t hot, which was disappointing, and the portion felt small for the price. I ended up ordering a cup of soup just to feel satisfied.

My daughter had the cheese curds and said some were hollow—like the cheese had squeezed out during frying.

I love supporting our Cedarburg spots, but for me, the food here was just okay. It filled the gap of not making dinner, but that’s about it.

Went to the Anvil for a Birthday meal and I greatly enjoyed going there. The building itself is old but incredibly well kept homely in a pleasant way, cozy and very clean! The service was good and very patient especially considering I has to wait for my other company to arrive, no problems there! The food was excellent, from the shepherd’s pie I got, to the duck wantons and even the mozzarella sticks, all was fantastic to me. I loved it at the Anvil, give it a go if you’re in the area you won’t be disappointed!

Pictures are of the inside and outside of the building, the decor, the menu, and the food!

Stopped in after riding bikes from Thiensville. Great spot along the river, with nice seating on the outdoor patio.

Got seated right away. Our server was absolutely terrific. Super busy, but she let us know she saw us and would come back ASAP. (I always appreciate that kind of acknowledgement, thanks Beth). Ordered drinks and a couple of appetizers. They came out quick and were the right temperature.

Got the Nachos and South of Cedarburg stuffed wontons. The Nachos were very good, the right amount of cheese and toppings. The wontons were not that good. Plenty of fillings, but it was kinda mushy. Would not order that again.

All total, a pleasant lunch in a great location.

Visiting the city on a sunny Saturday morning and decided to get some lunch. Wonderful use of existing space and history. Our server was very polite, helpful and attentive. This place has a wonderful menu. My wife had the Short Rib Mushroom Melt with a Dill Pasta side. I had the Philadelphia Cheese Steak sandwich with fries. The sandwich was on their brick oven bread and absolutely sent the sandwich to another dimension with flavor. I would have preferred the onions and peppers cut into smaller pieces but only so they could be incorporated more into the flavor of each bite. It was still one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a while. The aioli was really good. Nice, smooth and rich. We will definitely be going back to try other things.

The atmosphere was lovely, the Bluberry Lavender Mojito was DELICIOUS, the food wasn’t even mediocre! We both ordered the bacon wrapped chicken breast that was supposed to be stuffed with chives and cream cheese, mine had none & his had a little spot… NO FLAVOR!! The Garlic Smashed potatoes were so thick you could have mudded a wall with them and had NO GARLIC to them,NO FLAVOR!!
Was so disappointed, I brought my Husband somewhere new for his Birthday Celebration but it definitely wasn’t worth the 50 minute Drive or the cost of the Bill!! The waitress was Great though!!

Unfortunately just didn’t quite hit the mark on most dishes. BBQ duck sandwich and short rib Mac and cheese were good. Burger was a frozen patty, cooked medium rare (ordered medium), and mushrooms on it were raw. Butternut squash ravioli was ok but too sweet. Anvil chicken over cooked and dry.

Great environment and very friendly server! The food quality was high and very flavorful! Stone cooked bread was great and the Black and Tan onion rings were flavorful and interestingly had grill marks…
