The food was good overall. The Chinese style rice is not really like the one most of us are used to, but it was still tasty in its own way. One thing that really stood out was the Nutella flan…that dessert is on another level.
They also give you a complimentary salchichón soup when you arrive, and it’s absolutely delicious. It’s a great little touch that makes the experience feel even more special.
Overall, it’s definitely a place worth visiting. Good food, excellent service, and some standout items that make the trip worthwhile.
1. We ordered drinks, only 2 of them were served of 3 orders.
2. We ordered one appetizer (alcapurria) and it took 30mins for it to arrive; when it did, it was room temperature giving the impression it may have sat a little before arriving.
3. Our entrees were ordered at 5pm & 1.5 hour passes by and at 6:30pm still no food received, no drink refills or checking our table for an update of food delay or clearing our table from appetizer.
4. We had to leave due to time and requested food to go at 6:30pm and to check out due to food still not being ready because we still wanted to be a good customer in trying to give them a chance. Once we cashed out and both parties left a tip (despite not being expected) it took an additional 30 mins to receive our food in to go boxes from kitchen.
5. Lastly, our bags had grease on outside of it on where you place your hands and when I checked my food, my octopus and sauce was spilled out of to-go box and all over my rice and steak in the same container right after receiving from waiter that I check in front of them.
**No efforts made to rectify long wait time at any point which adds to why this was an overall horrible experience which is unfortunate because there was certainly plenty of opportunities. Food taste, I can’t say truly because I didn’t get to try fresh but I can guarantee it was not significant enough to warrant the poor communication, dissatisfying service or prolonged wait time.
Areas for improvement:
1. Have someone at the door ready to greet and communicate if prolonged wait time
2. After dropping off drinks or appetizers, do a table check-in to ensure no customer concerns or issues with orders placed
3. If food has taken more than 15-20 minutes to arrive, server should be checking on table to notify of delay
4. If food has taken over 30-40 minutes to arrive, server should check on table to update status of order progression & provide ETA
5. If food has taken over 1-1.5 hours to arrive, server should STILL check on table in addition to a manager or lead team member should come talk to customers to communicate issue and provide solutions.
6. At check out, communication should have been provided before cashing out that an additional 30 mins would be required to wait because I already had to leave quickly and not being transparent with customers is not doing business in good faith.
I believe in supporting small business and also local businesses but if no changes made then unfortunately restaurants like this will be the ones that continue to give others a bad name and won’t stick around long. We honestly were willing to look past the poor service with drinks and room temp food but what really pushed our buttons was a lack of consideration for our time in not providing time transparency from ordering in to check out along with the way we received our food after paying $100 for 2 meals. I hope they receive the feedback well and I hope they can make improvements but for now it’ll be the #1 restaurant I’ll be warning people about and advising people to not dine in.
Started off with the chef giving us free soup while we waited for our meal.
Presentation-wise, it was simple but appetizing. The portion size was generous, especially for the price.
Overall, low key spot that served food done right. I’d give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended for a casual lunch or a satisfying dinner!
Atmosphere is abuela’s house vibe!
I had the pleasure of indulging in some amazing food on 6/27/23 for lunch, and let me just say, my taste buds are still singing! I started with some Alcapurrias accompanied with some hot sauce sauce that made it absolutely heavenly. The Alcapurrias was so flavorful.
I had the pleasure of being served by one of the most exceptional waitresses I have encountered in a long time. I am so bad with names, and please forgive me if I get your name wrong but on the receipt it says Yulianet. From the moment she greeted me with a warm smile to the moment I left the restaurant, she exuded a level of professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine kindness that truly set her apart.
Not only was she knowledgeable about the menu, but she also took the time to listen to my specific dietary preferences and offer thoughtful suggestions. Her recommendations were spot-on, and every dish she brought to my table was executed flawlessly.
She gave me some Sopa de Salchichon. WoW, all the flavors of this soup was as if you were coming home and your mom or grandmother was cooking. All the flavors of Puerto Rico was in this bowl of goodness. Each spoonful of this soup was a savory masterpiece, warming the soul and leaving a lingering taste that was both comforting and joyful. It was an experience that reminded me of the simple pleasures in life and the incredible power of a well-crafted dish, and that’s just the soup. Imagine the rest of the other dishes.
What truly stood out was her ability to anticipate my needs even before I had to ask. She checked in on me regularly, striking the perfect balance between being attentive without being overbearing. Beyond her impeccable service, her warmth and friendliness created an atmosphere that made me feel like a valued guest. She took the time to engage in friendly conversation, with myself and with other customers. Yulianet went above and beyond to make my dining experience all the more enjoyable.
For my main course, I opted for the Carne Frita con Arroz con Habichuelas y ensalada, and all of it was love at first bite. The beans were perfectly cooked and combined Calabaza which makes for a flavorful tomato sauce, and a medley of herbs and spices that gave the dish that quintessential Puerto Rican flavor. It was hearty, satisfying, and extremely delicious. To round off my meal, I savored every last bite.
Overall, the meal was a true fusion of bold and sublime flavors that honored the heritage and culture of Puerto Rico. If you’re looking for a true culinary experience, look no further than Antojitos Navidenos Restaurant. cuisine. The food is a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of its owner, staff, and it’s definitely worth a taste.
In conclusion, my waitress’s exceptional service combined with her genuine kindness made my dining experience truly remarkable. I left the restaurant feeling not only satisfied with the delicious food but also grateful for encountering such a remarkable and beautiful individual. Thank you so much Antojitos Navidenos staff and thank you so much Yulianet. I am looking forward in trying more dishes and seeing the wonderful staff. Hats off to the chef. I would love to learn some of your skills.
People, go and try it out for yourself and be whisked away to Puerto Rico. Your tummy would thank you.
