Lunch was quiet. The broiled oysters, gumbo, and crab cake with cream were decadent and delicious.
Dinner was incredible. I had the Pompano Pontchartrain. Probably, THE, best white fish plate I have ever eaten. Antoine’s is know for it. I can see why.
We had drinks, good conversation, amazing food, and a comforting ambiance, not to mention the tip top wait staff.
Not only that, but the wait staff tipped us off to some scenic spots within the restaurant, which included: several royalty like dining areas, the ability to view their historic wine cellar, and a rustic back alley area that led to a speakeasy. Who knew?!?! This added an over the top experience
If you spend time in New Orleans, Antoine’s must be on your list to visit.
The venue is beautiful and feels like a living museum of New Orleans’ past. The service was excellent—polished and professional—and the prices were surprisingly fair for such a legendary establishment.
While we didn’t try their famous Oysters Rockefeller, every other dish we ordered was amazingly good and cooked to perfection. If you want a taste of authentic history paired with incredible food, this is the place to go!
We were in one of the smaller rooms, not as well lit with construction going on outside, so not the greatest experience from that standpoint, but the rest of the dining experience was excellent. The service was informative and attentive, and our food didn’t disappoint. I had the gulf fish almondine and my wife had the New Orleans classic Eggs Sardou. The fish was crunchy on the outside and very tender and moist on the inside. The brown butter sauce was outstanding. The cocktails were excellent – hats off to the bartenders. If you like old fashions – try the Sazerac a New Orleans original that is in the same family of cocktails. My wife loved the espresso martini.
I must say they did not disappoint! The atmosphere was warm. I was suspicious we were in for a treat when I saw the china with their name on it. Our server, Myles, was phenomenal. (He knows the menu inside and out.)
We started with the Souffle Potatoes, French onion soup, and Oysters Rockefeller. We were informed that the Souffle Potatoes were an Antoine’s original. All were delicious.
Next we had the Chicken Rochambeau and the Filet Marchand de Vin. The chicken being paired with the ham and pineapple confit just made it undescribably delicious. The steak was so tender it could be cut with a butter knife.
We had never had a baked Alaska, so we figured there was no better time to try it. We were so glad we did. The taste was only matched by the dishes beauty!! Yes, the meal was pricey, but we feel like it was worth every penny. Yes, we would definitely return.
All of us would come back here easily and would recommend to anyone in town or just visiting.
