***UPDATE*** My husband convinced me to go back to Antlers again because they really do have the best wings in Mecosta County. I was skeptical after my last two experiences but decided to go along with cautious optimism.
First, unlike previous visits, the server was phenomenal. Friendly, prompt, attentive, and knowledgable. Exactly what you want for your dining experience. The food was good. My husband was delighted with the wings. I ordered a BLT, which tasted “good”. It could have been better if they had put more of the “L” and “T” on it.
Overall, a much better experience.
***PREVIOUS POST” I haven’t been back to this restaurant since before Christmas, 2024. At that time I ordered soup and a sandwich. By the time I got home I was truly sick to my stomach with all the symptoms that go with that. My husband convinced me to try it again today. After waiting 5 minutes for service, we walked out and drove to Schubergs in Big Rapids, which has reliable food and service for reasonable prices. I didn’t write a review the first time when I became ill, but after our experience today I recommend that diners go somewhere else to eat.

I had a great experience at this restaurant overall. The place is clean, modern, warm, cozy, and upscale looking. The waitress was friendly and professional. Most importantly, the nachos, Antler burger, and cookie skillet were truly excellent tasting. I would’ve given this restaurant 5 stars overall if there were a little more dishes to choose from, larger portions, and slightly lower prices.

BE CAREFUL with your gift cards. The first time we came we had a $200 gift card. Waitress and food were wonderful. However they charged us additional credit card fees on our tab. Waitress couldn’t explain why. When we asked to speak to the manager she said he was in the kitchen and wouldn’t be able to come out and talk to us because he was too busy. Followed up with an email. Manager did reach out and apologized, said it was a system issue and he would refund the $6 or so dollars. We told him no big deal and that we appreciated the follow up. Went back a couple of weeks ago because we still had $44.56 left on our gift card. When we cashed out the waitress told us there was only .56 cents on the card and that was it. Told her that must be an error. She got a manager to come out and he couldn’t figure out why (I had the pictures of our receipts from the first visit clearly showing a remaining balance of $44.56) so he said he’d talk to the GM and have him reach out the following day. GM sends us an email with a spreadsheet showing a second charge from our first visit of $40.00 (which never took place) and told us that’s what the system shows and that’s how it is. We sent three different follow up emails and included pictures of our receipts and never got a response. We won’t go back.

We came during an ice storm when we had no power for a hot meal. We ordered the adult macaroni and cheese and a side salad. The macaroni and cheese tasted like grease and flour. We didn’t eat it after two bites and asked for it to be discounted. This was after waiting over a half hour to be acknowledged and then another hour and a half to get the food. Upon receiving the bill they took off only 10% of the price of the macaroni and cheese, charged me for a full sized salad and charged me for hot tea even though I only got hot water as I brought my own tea. They were not willing to do anything else. I paid $44 for half a salad and some hot water. Not worth it!!!!!

Unfortunately, this is not my first “bad experience” with the food here at Antlers. This is, however, the first time I’m actually going through the steps to write a review because it has grown into such a frustration I HAVE TO call attention to it somehow! The crazy thing is that it historically has been a nice, affordable place to grab a meal with family and friends. Only within the last year has it really gone downhill in terms of affordability and quality of food! NOT ONLY are fries NOT the standard sides for their burgers and handhelds anymore…. BUT if you want them… they come at a $2.00 extra charge! That itself is annoying sure… but what REALLY makes it ridiculous is that the amount you get wouldn’t be enough to satisfy a toddler! The picture I took is zoomed in. But as you can see there are BARELY any fries in that order!!! I get mistakes happen and sometimes the kitchen is busy and so it might seem unfair to claim this…. HOWEVER this is the new norm and expectancy when going to Antlers…. OH AND A “scoop” of ice cream is $2.50!!!!!! That might be fine except for the fact that what they put their ice cream in to make it a “scoop” are the small cups they use on to go orders for sauces like ranch etc etc.. I simply cannot be the only one who has noticed their disappointing apparent shift in customer satisfaction to making more money over everything am I????!!!!!

nice place, with a petty good feel, though a bit cramped for a place of this size. food was good, my friend said the pot pie was among the best he has had. the service was, well, bad. it was 25 minutes before our first round of drinks arrived, a solid 30 for the food to arrrive after we ordered. our server while very nice, was struggling… we were a party of six split into 3 seprate checks, all of which were wrong at first. she cheerfully got everything corrected and it turned out to be a pretty nice experience, if not slow. i would go back, but probably sit at the bar… not real impressed with their ability to handle a large table.

I recently dined at this upscale restaurant and was quite shocked by the overall experience, especially considering the high prices. To start, there was no complimentary bread, crackers, or cheese offered, which is typically standard in fine dining establishments.
I ordered Brussels sprouts without prosciutto on the side, but they still contained prosciutto, making the dish unpalatable for my dietary preference. The fettuccine was excessively thick and creamy, and no garlic bread was offered with my pasta, which added to the disappointment. Additionally, there was no offer of Parmesan cheese. My tomato soup was flavorful but had a consistency reminiscent of mashed potatoes and came with a bag of oyster crackers instead of croutons.
My husband ordered his steak medium, but it arrived rare and was served with plain steamed green beans that lacked seasoning. It was surprising to find that butter for the steak came at an extra charge of $3.
Having dined at many high-class restaurants, I expected better attention to detail and customer service. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet those expectations.
