Antica Trattoria: Authentic Italian Dining in Ridgewood, NY
Reviews
It’s truly a hidden gem in the heart of Ridgewood and one I highly recommend
-They offer a wonderful variety of traditional Italian dishes, all cooked to perfection – always fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Every dish is full of authentic taste and love. ❤️
The customer service is outstanding! From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like family. The staff is incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming, which makes every visit even more special
This is a great old-fashioned Italian spot that feels like a real neighborhood trattoria, not a trendy “Instagram” place. The vibe is classic and cozy, with that old-school, dim-lit dining room energy where you can actually relax and enjoy the meal.
Food is consistently delicious and tastes homemade. They start you off with bread, and everything we tried was the kind of comforting Italian you want: rich pastas, solid pizza, and really good appetizers. Highlights for me were the mozzarella in carrozza (crispy, gooey, perfect with sauce), the pasta (carbonara/vodka-style options are standouts), and dessert like tiramisu to finish. Portions are generous and the prices feel fair for NYC, especially compared to a lot of places that charge a fortune for less.
Service is another reason I keep recommending it. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without hovering or rushing you. It’s the type of place where you feel taken care of.
One important note: don’t come expecting a full bar experience. It’s more simple and traditional (beer/wine/soft drinks), which honestly matches the old-fashioned feel.
If you want a proper, classic Italian meal in a warm neighborhood restaurant, Antica Trattoria delivers.
The real star of the show, though, is the homemade pasta. I mean, can you think of anything better than a plate of freshly made fettuccine or orecchiette? We had their Fettuccine Alfredo and orecchiette with broccoli rabe and polpette, are absolute must-trys. The pasta is super fresh, delicious, and cooked to perfection. The service quality is wonderful, too – the staff is friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the food they’re serving.
What really sets Antica Trattoria apart, though, is the love and care that goes into making their pasta from scratch. You can taste the difference in every bite. Whether you’re a pasta aficionado or just a foodie looking for a great meal, this place is an absolute gem. So, if you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and swing by – your taste buds will thank you!
The food was terrific for the price, and the service was excellent. Getting quality Italian food for under $20/entree feels almost unheard of these days. The drinks were very good as well, especially the white wine sangria. We will definitely be back soon!
There is not one thing that we did not like. The food, most important element, was excellent, we all ordered daily specials: two different pasta dishes and chicken w/cantaloupe plus pizza and calamari for all of us to share. Everything was fresh, very tastefull and given to us in a timely manner.
Waiting time for pizza: 10-12 minutes. An order of calamari was already on the table before we even finished pizza. Then, 10 minutes later all four of us received our main dishes at the same time.
They have a nice choice of wine, beer and soda, too. We just ordered sangrias.
Great experience.
Highly recommended. @@@
