Anthony’s Mediterranean Bar and Grill offers incredible Mediterranean cuisine along with a hidden speakeasy in the back of the restaurant — hands down the nicest I’ve seen in Northern California.

Everything about this place feels special. The food is delicious, the ambiance is outstanding, and it’s truly a gem for Redding.

I highly recommend visiting with friends and family. This is a local business worth supporting.

So I stopped in here looking for something different. A Lebanese man said the food was as good as his home country, so I decided to give it a try. I had the lamb Gyro. It was okay, but it did not really taste like lamb, but my server Jodie recommended the lamb meat in the Gyro vs. the Kabab. They even gave me a nice amount of their hummus to try with 5 wedges of flatbread. That was very good. This restaurant had the flavor of the Greek side of the Mediterranean vs. the Lebanese though. The place was almost empty, and the Baklava I had was also very good. My 16 year old did not care for the Baklava, so that was odd considering he likes honey.

My friend recommended Anthony’s and the food was awesome! We ordered the sampler starter and got 3/4 of the way through it before I realized I should have taken a picture of the pretty presentation lol..Everything was fresh and delicious, especially the falafel.
I ordered the chicken kabobs and they were tender and the garlic sauce/toom that came with was very tasty!! My friend ordered the lamb kabobs. Although they have good flavor unfortunately, they were not quite tender enough for easy chewing, as he is an elderly gentleman. However, the waitress substituted the sliced lamb gyro meat for the kabobs, and the gyro was tender and perfectly cooked. My friend was happy with the substitution.
The baklava was nice and crispy and not overly sweet. My friend ordered the gin and tonic, which was nice and strong. I ordered the bubbly, which was a perfect compliment to my meal. Overall, very satisfied both with the kitchen and the service!! I will definitely be returning next time I’m in Redding.

Working late on a Saturday night and I found myself looking for dinner after 10pm. Didn’t want fast food. Saw Anthony’s was open and was pleasantly surprised at how excellent the food and service was especially at that hour. Definitely will return and look forward to taking others there too.

First what I loved: Very friendly host, who also served us. Beautiful restaurant. Bar was absolutely gorgeous. Music was current but not overwhelming. TVs tastefully placed. Also loved the great menu. What I did not love: Lamb kebob was incredibly salty. Like the cook salted and forgot, so salted again and forgot again, etc.
You get my drift. I would have said something but our host/server never came back to check on our meal. The leftovers we boxed for our pup but don’t want to make her sick so changed our minds. I so wanted to love this place.

I give 6 stars, one extra for everything. Very good and fresh food.
Service is the best. They are so so nice, everyone working there.
On Christmas eve the chef gave us a hummus plate for free.
Emil the owner spoke with us and was extremely friendly and courteous.
All lamb dishes are super good and tasty!!!
I have been to many Mediterranean restaurants in the US, and without a doubt or hesitation, I declare Anthony’s bar and grill as one of the top 3.

I guess it depends on what you’re coming here for. My family and I stopped for dinner after a long drive through the Redwoods. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and the food presentation looks appealing. This is where the positives end.

The food itself was a major disappointment. Some dishes were excessively salted, others were bland, and several of the meats tasted old. The lamb was particularly bad, with an off-putting flavor that resembled liver. Even the pita bread tasted stale. The only item anyone at our table found acceptable were the French fries.

Service started off friendly, but quickly fell apart. After our food was dropped off, we were essentially ignored. Both our table and the table next to us had to track someone down just to pay. Even then, the server disappeared again. After waiting far too long, we left cash on the table and walked out.

In the end, this is really a bar masquerading as a family restaurant. Between the poor food quality and inattentive service, we left disappointed and won’t be coming back.

I was so excited when Anthony’s opened up this downtown location. I regularly get their lamb gyros from The Greek Shack down the street from my office & love that they now have a venue with inside dining & cocktails. The food is amazing (@ least once a week I get the craving for a gyro from them). This downtown location offers a full bar (you NEED to try the Whiskey Sour!) & a private banquet room for meetings & events.
