we got there Thursday at lunchtime and the place was empty. it did take a few minutes for someone to come up from the back to take our order, and I got the impression they weren’t used to having any customers. the lady at the counter was nice and attentive to our order, but was more conversational in Spanish than English.
the three of us ordered: a soda, a chai and a mango shake; 2 roti, 4 samosas, 1 paratha with yogurt; 1 veggie curry, and 1 chicken curry platter (came with rice, roti and a salad)
the cost was ~$45 before tip, or $15 a person, which these days feels super affordable for all the food and drink we got.
our expectations were not very high, but we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was – the samosas were larger than those we have gotten from other restaurants, and very tasty. The curries were flavorful, though we did ask for them to be spicier, which they did not seem to be (tbf this happens to us a lot though. we like spice and no one ever seems to believe us).
other minor gripes – their soda machine did not have any ice in it, and the condiments in jars on the table (I assume ghee and achaar) seemed to not be very sanitary. the “salad” was just a pile of lettuce with no dressing and did not add to the experience.
That being said, this was a wonderful surprise to find basically in the middle of nowhere. we would love to come back and try more of their food. Though we would not get the chicken curry platter as is, and opt instead to order the curry, rice and roti separately.
also, whoever wrote their website needs to revisit it, as it mentions sushi? which is nowhere to be found on the menu. the photos of the food also do not appear to match the offerings on the menu.
