Every time I’m in Des Moines, I try and go to Annie’s Irish pub. It’s close to all the action and they have great drinks.

went for my 21st birthday had a very traumatizing experience. all my friends got id’d and inside the bar. passed two bouncers and the manager. a third bouncer walked up to the second women with a purse at the back of the bar and asked to go through her purse. that’s okay but she asked why (bc we’re at the back of the bar and didn’t ask anyone else) he IMMEDIATELY grabbed her and pushed her against the booth and told her to leave. ended in an altercation with two other women. did not ask first if she could leave he used force before we could register what was happening!!! we called the cops and the supervisor said he was “good friends with the owner” they told us they couldn’t see anything on the cameras. i don’t know if this man was drunk or just power hungry but i have a video of him threatening to beat us after we were leaving. we watched people enter after and not a single person was asked to see their bags. WHY DID THIS HAPPEN

As an English tourist this is a great place for a drink, sadly we couldn’t stay very long but the vibe was great & I could have stayed all night. If I’m in Des Moines again during this vacation I will definitely go back

Just average kinda college bar. Not much indoor space, so little tough during the cold months to enjoy. There are better options nearby in my opinion.

I went out with some friends for St. Patrick’s day, and I have to say, I am very happy with how your security team was. Anytime I was alone (going to the bathroom, waiting for my boyfriend) the security staff would come up and make sure I was okay. I believe acts like this can help promote a safe environment for young women. The bartenders were also very nice and helpful. They handled a busy night smoothly!

Will never be back. Bartender working outside couldent tell us any of the beers they had.

Very disrespectful to my wife and sister. He told us to walk around the bar to look into the fridge to see what they had. Asked for an Old Fashioned, he said they don’t make them there. Eventually asked for two fingers of whisky and he didn’t know what that ment.

Save your money, find a better bar.

This isn’t a true Irish pub. It’s a normal bar that I guess turns into a club atmosphere at night? I went there on a Saturday night expecting Irish pub things, like a quiet welcoming atmosphere, a glass of Guinness and some good food. They had a bouncer at the door, served beer out of plastic cups, and took my barstool for “when it gets crowded.” Oh, and not to mention they were out of 3/6 beer taps, including Guinness. After they took my stool, I left and there were maybe 10 people in there. I’m giving it three starts because it might be decent during the day, but at night, there is nothing about it that is an Irish Pub. Should just be called Annie’s Bar. Again, could be a decent place, but by late night it isn’t a pub.

The cleanest thing here is the port-a-john. The restrooms are gross. The area of the kitchen that can be seen from the floor looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in some time. The draft beer that I ordered tasted like dirt and grime. I offered my girlfriend a taste to see if it was just me, but she refused because it smelled bad.

The staff is great, but the best customer sevice can’t fix logistical problems.

Disgusting that a man pushed his way thru on a woman using a bathroom and then putting his hands on the women!!!

The bar was a mess and the bartender was unfriendly questioning the age of our 30 year old daughters claiming they did not serve food and they were under 21. We clearly read that at the door and entered. Would not go back. Bartender needs to be a little more friendly. With that being said we left.
