The absolute definition of Southern hospitality. We drove 45 minutes from Rosenberg last night to try this place after seeing it on a Facebook reel. So we loaded up and made the trip. I knew it was later in the evening and the post had warned they might be out of items close to closing, but we still wanted to give it a try.

After ordering and waiting a bit, we found out they were out of most of the side dishes we had our hearts set on. Ms. Tracy handled the situation with so much grace and kindness. We decided to get a refund and come back today so we could try everything we originally came for.

I’m so glad we did. It was absolutely worth the wait. The food was everything we expected and more. We’ll definitely be back!

Mrs. Tracy has The Best customer service and The Best Fresh food. My husband and I ordered the oxtails with rice, green beans and sweet potatoes. Yes my granny had to be cooking in her kitchen for them sweet potatoes. This place will bless your spirit and your stomach. Pull up and enjoy some great season food made with love. Also grab you a kool aid and that lemonade in the bottle to hold everything down. You will thank me for this one.

Had to see what the hype about, I decided to give it a try. Since the actual restaurant is currently closed for renovations, they’re operating out of a food truck. When I pulled up and saw no one there, I was a bit skeptical. Especially after reading that the lines are usually long with a ridiculous wait time. Still, I didn’t let that stop me.

I ordered an oxtail plate with macaroni and cheese and greens. For my second plate, I got the Cajun turkey wing with garlic mashed potatoes and gravy, along with sweet potatoes. Both meats were well-seasoned. The oxtails could have been more tender, but the portion size was decent for the price. The turkey wing was good and flavorful.

Both plates came with rice. The gravy had a decent taste, but the rice itself was undercooked. The mac and cheese was bland, and the sweet potatoes were just okay. However, the garlic mashed potatoes were ! Definitely the standout side. The greens had a bitter, canned taste to me, so I didn’t care for those.

For dessert, we tried the red velvet cake, which was good and definitely tasted homemade.

Overall, for the Northside, the food was good. Better than “This Is It” off FM 1960. I’d be willing to try Annie B’s again once the renovations are complete. I just hope the prices doesn’t go any higher. Spent over $70, kind of expensive for two soulfood plates and a slice of cake.

Not sure what time to go as both my visits were disappointing due to lack of menu options. A more detailed menu is necessary to know the options available for the day. Large portions, good to share with another. Not sure what type of fish, was told it was catfish, but I suspect otherwise after tasting. Food isn’t consistent, one day something may be great the next may be under seasoned or over cooked from sitting on the steam table. Fried food seems to be cooked to order, the rest I’m not sure. Plenty of seating and gospel music played. Not a terrible choice by far just inconsistent. Maybe call and see what items they have before going so you don’t get your hopes up for something they don’t serve daily. Chocolate cake is delicious no fountain drink machine but offers bottled beverages and kool-aid. I enjoyed my food for the most part, the black eye peas, cabbage and beef tips are really flavorful.

I drove 45 minutes to try them out waited in line for 15 minutes, until they opened. The inside side is very spacious and there was another area where you could sit and eat, that area was also large and spacious. Ok so I ordered the oxtail with Mac and cheese and green beans. The oxtail were big but however they were not tender and falling off of the bone. The green beans were just okay and the Mac and cheese was very cheesy and good. I also ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and red beans and sausage. The meatloaf was good, the mashed potatoes tasted like it was out of the box and red beans were actually really good. Also the service was great and they do give you very large portions. But I guess if you live in that area you can go there to eat. But for me I’ve had better soul food closer to me.

* I have to add do not get your hopes up looking at the menu. They don’t specify what items they have for the day; I wanted turkey necks but got up to the front and they said they didn’t have that for the day so maybe if they can update their menu to tell you what they have on what days that would be helpful!

Absolutely love this place. You have to go early. I went on a Wednesday afternoon at 2p and the line was long and they had already ran out of things. The food is so good. They are busy from the time they open. I gave four stars for the food only because the cabbage wasn’t good I could tell before I even tasted it that it was bland. It didn’t look as if it had seasoning, but they had already ran out of green beans and greens so I didn’t have a choice. Everything else was so good. I will be going back but I’ll be going for when they open at 12 so that way I can get another option outside of cabbage, but other than that hands-down the best soul food and I standby Esthers… Annie Bs is a great Alternative!

Now listen, I don’t just hand out glowing reviews, but this place absolutely deserves it. I’d give it a solid 9.5 out of 10. When we arrived around 12:30 PM, the line was already long and continued to grow as we waited. I’d estimate about a 20-minute wait, but the food was well worth every minute.

I ordered the fried chicken, and although there was a brief wait since they had just opened, it was completely understandable. When a small issue came up with my order, the owner handled it with such warmth and professionalism that it honestly stood out. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and quick to make things right, personally bringing me a fresh plate with a genuine smile. Her customer service was truly top-tier, and you could feel how much pride she takes in her food and her customers’ experience.

The food itself was piping hot and bursting with flavor. The macaroni and spaghetti were both outstanding, and the presentation was impressive. The portion sizes were generous, and for around $20, it was hands down the best meal I’ve purchased during lunchtime in a long time. It’s the kind of plate that reminds you why southern cooking is so beloved hearty, soulful, and full of comfort.

Being from Chicago, I’m not easily impressed by food elsewhere, but this was the real deal authentic, home-style southern cooking at its finest. If you have a little patience, it’s absolutely worth the wait. I’ll definitely be returning and recommending this spot to all my coworkers.

This place kept popping up on my Instagram so I decided to give it a try today. It’s an hour drive from my house, and unfortunately it’s going to be an hour drive I need to make every week from now on. I got the meatloaf and oxtails. Both were FANTASTIC! The portion sizes were huge. RUN DON’T WALK to get you some. I’m going to need them to relocate their food truck into my backyard ASAP
