As a non-Indian, the food was above and beyond. I had the Annapurna Goat Curry with the basmati rice that comes with it. The Mango Lassi was thick, creamy, and delicious.
The Goat Curry was flavorful, aromatic, and went very well with the rice. It was my first time trying it, and I’d say it was a 10/10 meal which I would definitely try again.
My only concern was the time it took to get the food ready, because we order as a group and it took sometime to get the food to us.
The owner was kind, and courteous to explain that some chefs were not around and hence the delay.
PS: I have added images of the menu for anyone who would like to view the menu before getting there.
The rest of the food? Fantastic. I even heard other customers at the next table complimenting their dishes—either the food is great, or Annapurna hires undercover hype people. (If so, bravo, because I was convinced.)
Now, let’s talk parking. Imagine Indiana Jones looking for the Holy Grail—except instead of booby traps and rolling boulders, it’s Pasadena street parking. And under no circumstances park under the tree in front of the restaurant. Unless you want to wake up tomorrow and wonder if your car got auditioned as the backdrop for a Hitchcock remake. The birds here don’t mess around. They have aim, strategy, and possibly a union.
So, 9/10 for food, 0/10 for avian parking attendants.
1. We had to sit in the middle of the restaurant entrance in a cramped hallway.
2. The lady working was trying her best to be the receptionist, server, cleaning table, attending to DoorDash orders, bringing food to tables and much more.
3. We ordered at 6:50 pm. By 8:30 pm one person still didn’t have their order.
4. They brought two wrong items to the table.
5. They served uncooked uthappam twice. We requested the first serving to be recooked and they once again brought uncooked uthappam.
6. They brought food and then we had to wait 20 min to get plates and silverware.
7. We couldn’t even get water and I had to share my my water cup with someone.
The employees were trying their best – this is the result of the owners attitude to save cost and trying to get all the work done by a couple of employees.
I’d never return and I’d never recommend to anyone.
Spice level is adjustable, not too oily, pretty fresh and somewhat healthy options available.
Dining in doesn’t add any value, unless you wanna save on delivery/platform fees. They take orders on the phone, I normally call in my orders and pick up.
Some DOs and DONTs:
Don’t go here for butter chicken or chana masala or paneer tikka (those are notth Indian)
Do go here for dosas and idlis
Do go here for South Indian spicy biriyanis (they make a bomb vijaywada special biriyani) and paneer biriyani
For appetizers, do try their masala fish fry, chicken 65, and chili paneer
Do try their mango lassi
Don’t go for naan, opt for rice/biriyani
Note, recently their portion sizes have reduced (maybe taxes or new management) and you can notice cost cutting measures. But the portions are still more than enough for one person.
