The ambience is average and service is average too. We had to ask for glasses for water, also needed to ask to refill the water. When we had finished with appetizer, in general the server will remove from table what you are done with – but here it just felt like plates are accumulating. No one to take away that. If the restaurant is busy I can understand that but when we ate – we were practically the only one there. So it wasn’t the manpower problem – it is just a service problem.
Coming to food. Pomfret was super good. Really well done. Briyani was a meh – I don’t feel Bay Area has best briyani’s anyways. I have had better Briyani in places like Seattle, Raleigh and Phoenix. The chicken 65 in Briyani though was pretty good – the typical Chennai style chicken 65 dyed with food colors .
It was super nice of them to prepare filter coffee for us although it wasn’t in the menu. Coffee was decent.
The veg thali was also about okay. I didn’t tried it but my friend did and that was his review. Their special goat briyani was decent at best – I was hyped up about it but to me.it didn’t live up to the expectations.
They also offer a good variety of biryanis, including thalapakattu Chicken Biryani, Mutton Biryani, Egg Biryani, and Veg Biryani, gilma briyani, boneless briyani, The biryanis are aromatic, well cooked, and served in good portions with tasty sides.
The staff are friendly and service is quick. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, and prices are reasonable for the quality of food. Highly recommended for anyone looking for genuine South Indian cuisine in the Bay Area. Will definitely visit again!
Update. Thali is worst. Place is still shitty. Changed to 2 stars
The staff were super friendly and easy going too. Their credit card reader broke while we were there and they were super chill about it and were willing to discount the meal, and were patient while we went to run and grab some cash.
I loved everything we had, and I think next time I’d try the onion dosa instead of the mysore dosa. We’ll definitely be coming back here sometime!
If you’re looking for genuine hospitality and delicious food that hits the spot every time, Annachikadai is the place to be. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a memorable dining experience!
What made the situation worse is that they didn’t even try to find change or offer any alternative solution. They simply told me “no” and asked me to cancel the order. On top of that, they didn’t even say sorry for the inconvenience.
Because of this, my one full hour was wasted. I drove a long distance just to pick up the food and came back empty-handed. This was extremely frustrating and unprofessional.
This is honestly one of my worst experiences with an Indian restaurant. Better communication and basic customer service could have easily avoided this situation. I would not recommend this place based on my experience.
They served me spoiled mutton curry it looked good, but it was not fresh at all. The dosa was very thin and not edible, with no taste.
Hand wash was under maintenance, so I had to go inside the toilet to wash my hands, which is very uncomfortable.
Service was okay, not bad.
But the food quality is absolutely terrible. Very disappointing experience
