Ann Sather is a Chicago breakfast classic, and those famous cinnamon rolls absolutely live up to the hype. They’re huge, soft, and covered in just the right amount of sweet icing. Beyond that, the menu is full of comforting brunch staples — fluffy pancakes, hearty omelets, and Scandinavian-inspired touches that make it feel a little special. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with that old-school diner charm that never goes out of style. It’s the kind of place you go when you want a warm, satisfying start to your day.

We had such a good time. First, go for the cinnamon rolls and everything else in your life will be fine! Please be aware the cinnamon rolls come as a side so no need to order additional unless you need a sugar rush! I also had the eggs and salmon and it was solid. The wait wasn’t long for us on a Saturday around 10am. This is a must stop for the cinnamon rolls.

The only negative is the lack of a kids menu. But the fact that the amazing cinnamon rolls are served with your meal as a side dish is a giant plus! We came for breakfast on our Chicago vacation and so glad we did. We all enjoyed the food and the service was super friendly.

Ann Sather is a Chicago staple that somehow I haven’t been to in all my years living here until recently. Honestly, I thought they only sold cinnamon rolls since that’s what everyone talks about when you mention the restaurant.
They are a full service restaurant though, reminiscent of diners that were popular in the 90s. It’s almost like going back in time when eating here, as the decor is 90s coded as well.
I had to try the cinnamon rolls, of course, and they didn’t disappoint. A little on the sweet side for me but moist and huge for them being a side dish.
The food overall seemed a bit bland, which was more common back in the day. I assume it so customers can put as much seasoning on as they want but I think I’m so used to more contemporary dining where you’re expected to experience the flavors as the chef intended without adding things like additional salt.
Would I go back? Personally, I’m not sure. For a cinnamon roll, absolutely.
The place was clean and the staff were excellent though! Another staple of diners. If you’re visiting, it’s worth checking out especially if you haven’t had a true diner experience or are nostalgic for one. There are other places in the city with similar offerings though.

Easily always a 5star place for breakfast. Cinnamon rolls are a must and I love their wraps so SOSO much! Can be very busy at times and I’m all for it!!!! Food comes out at such a reasonable time too!!

Unique menu with the most enormously generous portion of cinnamon rolls that come with each meal: two huge cinnamon rolls with everything omelette or egg dish. Yes that is crazy and they have fantastic hash browns and drop biscuits (yes you can get two of those as well.).
This place is very high quality made from scratch breakfast food and is very much worth the money. Also Ann Sathers has that special unique feel that makes you realize it’s a very special place that once you go it stirs your heart to think about. It’s pretty wonderful but too indulgent to go daily for sure.

The food was DELICIOUS!!! It’s been about twenty years since I had one of their cinnamon rolls. I can tell you I’m not going to wait 20 days till I have another. Beyond their cinnamon rolls, their other breakfast options are fantastic. Breakfast sandwich and breakfast potatoes were amazing. Good coffee.
Service was great! Had a wonderful server who was very attentive, even with the place being full and busy.
Atmosphere was clean, comfortable and cute, but nothing to write home about. Doesn’t matter since the food was excellent and that’s what we go for!!!

Really enjoyed our brunch this morning. We started with Biscuits & Honey which were very fluffy & moist along with sharing Cinnamon Rolls which were rich & tasty. We then had the Salmon & Eggs Benedict along with a Denver Omelet topped with Pepper Jack Cheese. They have a BYOB standard but have what you need to enjoy a Mimosa or Bloody Mary while you dine in. The prices were good & the service was excellent.

i remembered enjoying the cinnamon rolls a lot a few years ago so when i got a craving for cinnamon rolls i came here. i got them to go. 1) they were just okay. i remembered liking them way more. but tbh i could get similar ones pre made from a grocery store so that was a little disappointing 2) they wrap it to go in wax paper (?) instead of in a box which i thought was weird bc it made half the icing stick to the paper. i had to awkwardly scoop it off, & back onto the rolls.
the sausage was good though. overall, really mid, & not as good as i remembered. prob wont come back But it was also only $9 for my order which isnt that bad imo.

Today, I got an order of two cinnamon rolls and there was zero icing on half of the edge piece and I asked for some icing on that bare bit. They charged for the “extra” icing that should have been included in the first place. If this were a one-time thing I would’t mind so much, but it is fairly typical of this location.
I don’t know what it is about this location, but compared to Belmont the service is really not great. They act like it’s a bother to do anything, including hand you your to-go order. I had the gall to ask for the inside rolls once (if posssible) they gave me the corner while saying, “there’s your inside.” I use basic courtesy, and no other place I know of so consistently disappoints.
The cinnamon rolls (when they have enough icing) are great. Obviously, I think they’re worth it.
