We’re on a quest to find the perfect Gyro (Greek sandwich) in Chattanooga and we came closer at Ankar’s. The meat is absolutely the most flavorful and tender I’ve had anywhere. It is served with grilled onions, tomatoes and Tazinki sauce, sprinkled with what I thought may be oregano. It is served in pita bread, which I will say may have been a tad bit better if it were grilled. My husband had the chili, which was thick and loaded with meat. He said the flavor was excellent. The onion rings were very hot and crispy with thick slices of onion. When you enter the building, the first thing you will notice is the decor is dated, but then it will strike you that this is one of the cleanest restaurants you will walk into. We were there just after the height of the lunch rush and the tables were gleaming and floors spotless. I look forward to returning to try one of their hoagies.

Ordered the Gyro and fries. It definitely wasn’t lamb on the gyro. Not sure what it was but it was marinated to death and despite ordering extra sauce there was zero Tzatziki on the gyro. Had to throw it away. Fries and the Coke were delicious.

Enjoyed my lunch here today. I have been wanting a fafael from here. Not many places offer fafaels. The food was very good. I’m thankful that Ankars Restaurant is in the Harrison area. I decided to go through the drive through and the service was good and the wait wasn’t to long. Thank you for the great food. It was yummy. Awesome.

I’ve always gone to & enjoyed Ankars by East Brainerd Rd. The Hwy 58 store is just as good!! I would say even better when it comes to customer service. The Hwy 58 store made me feel, as if they were dedicated to my satisfaction!

Food was good and plentiful. The service at the register was fast but I’m guessing with it being the lunch hour the kitchen was swamped, making them a little behind. The restaurant has a good amount of seating but it did feel a little cramped but it didn’t feel intrusive.
