Pretty decent overall, but nothing to write home about. Everything was perfectly passable, but for Indian food aficionados, it just didn’t quite hit the spot. On the bright side, the Madras coffee was the real star of the show — absolutely excellent!

This was our second time. Food was excellent and the new lady waitress was attentive.
Sambar chicken biryani 4/5
Coconut curry with prawn 4/5
Garlic naan 4/5
Coconut curry goes well with biryani and naan was well. As others noted a bit runny not as thick but flavorful. $70 with 20% tip

My first curry in New York found me here as this was rated highly by reviews.
I asked for Indian hot, it was below average, more medium, definitely not Indian hot.
Coconut curry with chicken. Not bad, not great. A bit watery and bland, needed more seasoning.
Onion pakodas, were disappointing. All batter and little onion.
I am critical because I have high standards with curry’s. Perhaps this is considered good in New York. Wouldn’t last long in Brick lane, that’s for certain.
Service was good and the naan bread fine !

I visited this place this noon. I ordered the banana leaf special and a Coke, and the total bill came to around $50. The service was good, but the food was so bland that it wasn’t very tasty. If you’re a spice lover, you might want to skip this place. It was an evening, and the atmosphere was okayish.

Amazing food and the special non veg banana leaf was a great addition to the menu, loved everything about the food and their service. They also very willing gave us complimentary food for us to try.

Anjappar Indian Cuisine delivers an unforgettable dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm hospitality and inviting ambiance set the tone for a perfect evening. The food was nothing short of exceptional—authentic Chettinad flavors that were rich, aromatic, and cooked to perfection. Every dish, from the spicy mutton chukka to the veg biriyani was a flavor explosion. The staff was courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. It’s clear they take great pride in the quality of their food and service. Highly recommend Anjappar to anyone craving a true taste of South India—this place is a gem!
