The food at this Indian restaurant was good and we generally enjoyed the flavors and presentation. The atmosphere was also nice, with pleasant music and a comfortable environment, which made the place feel welcoming overall.
Unfortunately, the service experience was confusing and uncomfortable at times. Instead of bringing the check first, the waiter came directly with the payment terminal while we were still eating. This felt rushed and unexpected, especially since we had not asked to pay yet.
Another issue was the timing and communication from the staff. While not everyone at our table had finished or even returned yet, one of the staff members, cleaning lady started asking questions about clearing the table and continued looking at me while we were clearly still in the middle of our visit. This created unnecessary pressure and took away from the dining experience. It would have been much better to wait until all guests had finished and were ready to leave before starting cleanup or payment discussions. Why the cleaning staff comes out of nowhere and starts questions like that and even talking to customers?
There was also some confusion regarding tipping, as we were told that tips could not be added to the card and were cash only, which feels inconvenient and outdated.
Overall, the food, music, and atmosphere were good, but the service needs better timing, awareness, and communication. With more patience and attention to guests, this restaurant could offer a much better overall experience.

Had a wonderful dining experience at Anjappar Indian Restaurant. Most of the vegetarian dishes are absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors and perfectly cooked. There’s a great variety for veg lovers, and every dish we tried was satisfying. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for tasty Indian food with great service!

This is the first time I’ve ever seen mutton curry idly on an Indian restaurant menu, and it was amazing. It felt like a healthier twist for anyone who enjoys kothu parotta. Definitely a must-try! We also ordered the paneer tikka and paneer tikka masala everything was absolutely delicious. We’ll definitely come back to try more new items on the menu.

The ambiance of the restaurant was really nice and stood out as different from what you’d find at other Indian restaurants. They started us off with complimentary Masala Pappad, and for our main courses, we ordered Chilli Chicken, Chicken Sukka, Anjappar Special Chicken, Chicken Dum, and Mutton Dum Biryani. The food was excellent overall, and the Special Chicken appetizer and the Biryanis were particularly noteworthy and really stood out.The service was quick and efficient, making for a very pleasant overall experience. I highly recommend checking it out.

There were plenty of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The place was packed, but the staff stayed kind, attentive, and quick to refill the buffet items. The restaurant was also very clean and well maintained, even with the large crowd, which made the dining experience even better.

Went for Grand opening day buffet and was meet with huge line. I get that it’s opening day but there was no organization visible and it was chaos. Food was done in between mainly all non veg items and refill was not happening on time. After long wait I got some non veg items especially chicken 65 (was not that flavorful), shrimp fry ( same not flavorful), mutton curry was ok not that great, mutton biriyani was on the dry side. Overall it was an ok experience compared to wha we had in Cary. Went to see how the dinner experience will be but was greeted with not so good customer service. We reached there by 8:45 and were told they were not taking any more customer. But if you google it shows 10 PM close. There are ways to address customers in a way they don’t get offended . Mango desert was the one thing that was worth second time. I will try there one more time after this chaos and see if it was an opening day trouble or permanent one.

Update 11/16: we went for dinner and wanted to updated after that. Menu was huge and has lot of items in using some exotic meats like deer and rabbit. That was unique. We ordered Chennai style chilli chicken which was good. Also ordered lime juice masala which is essentially lime juice with chat masala so it depends on people’s bud tastes. We also ordered Lamb Jaffery which was ok a sit had no or very less salt to taste. Also ordered poori masala which also had same issue as salt less. Prices are on higher end as two Malabar parotta will cost you around $10.99 which is on very high side. I would recommend onetime dining to taste and then decide for yourself.

Love that there’s a new South Indian restaurant in Charlotte. Especially happy that’s it’s anjapar. Went here with my family for dinner today. The menu was quite extensive and offer’s variety of dishes from all across India.

We tried the mutton soup, chilly chicken, king fish fry as aps.

For mains we ordered the egg biryani w chicken biryani rice, karai kudi chicken, Malabar porota and the kottu porota w mutton.

For drinks we tried the salted lime soda and filter coffee.

Aps review: we really enjoyed the chili chicken and fish fry these dishes were very flavorsome. The mutton soup needed some extra salt and pepper I would probably stick to ordering their other aps next time since they were better.

Mains review: the egg biryani w chicken biryani rice was unlike any other biryani in Charlotte it was “zerak-samba” style which is truly South Indian and reminded us of home. The karai kudi chicken is definitely a must try however I wish it had a bit more chicken since it is a bone in dish, the flavor was lovely and I enjoyed this change from the classic North Indian dishes offered at other restaurants in clt this dish does come with rice but we opted for the Malabar porota instead. The Malabar porota was flakey, warm and wonderfully balanced with the raita (yougurt sauce) which came along with it it also came with a khorma but the khorma could use some more coconut to thicken it up and add some flavor. The raita provided needs its own review as it was thick rich flavorful and wonderfully balanced with the veggies. Kottu porrota was a bit disappointing as it was a bit too soggy it would have been perfect if it was less soggy and the porota provided the texture this dish needed however the flavor was great the texture needs improvement.

Drinks review: the salted lemon soda was lovely and refreshing to accompany these dishes. The filter coffee is definitely the best in Charlotte when it was first brought out the color was not to our liking but they were kind enough to provide us more decoction which made it perfect and it was an excellent way to end the meal.

Service: Our waitress was very sweet and attentive she made sure to answer all of our questions and got assistance when needed in a timely fashion. We felt well attended to. The manager Anthony was very kind and took our feedback and made changes accordingly. He made us feel welcomed and answered any questions we had about the restaurant and its menu.

Ambiance: the ambiance was well kept, with beautiful South Indian paintings on the wall, well lit environment, clean and well kept.

Overall: we wil definitely be coming again and I am planning to return back with friends. In my opinion Charlotte really needed a spot like this and this should be talked about more. They even offer buffet and we will definitely come by at some point to try this out. All in all if you are thinking about giving anjapar a try definitely do it’s the closest thing to authentic South Indian in Charlotte.

Had an amazing experience at the brand-new Anjappar restaurant in Pineville. The space is huge, with a dedicated area for the buffet, and the ambiance felt warm and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly and guided us in choosing the perfect dishes based on our preferences. We ordered everything at a mild spice level, and each dish arrived perfectly seasoned with no compromise on flavor.

We tried the Chili Chicken, the Special Anjappar Chicken Curry with Malabar Paratha, and the Chicken Biryani — and every single dish was outstanding. This will definitely be our go-to spot for Indian food going forward!

Was excited to hear opening of Anjappar finally here in Charlotte. Went over for dinner and tried the Shrimp Veechu Parotta, Chilly chicken & Vanjaram(King fish) Rava Fry along with Mango lassi & Sweet lime soda. Parotta was good and so Fish fry was great. Chilly chicken had too much tangy sauce on it. Sweet lime soda tasted more like Sprite in a glass. They have a ton of menu items to try for both vegetarians & Non-vegetarians. Servers seem a bit confused with the menu items and understandably so with the new menu. Service can get better. Location is great & easy parking spaces available. Will come back again to try some of the other dishes.
