We had a wonderful evening at Angler. The staff was outstanding as you can expect from a Michelin star restaurant. We had the The Taste of Angler with beautiful dishes inspired by the French cuisine. The wine pairing was excellent. All in all, we had a wonderful dinner.

Probably one of the best meals I’ve had this year. Before you even decide what you are going to try you get three little appetisers which get you excited for the rest of the meal to come. We tried the tasting menu and it didn’t disappoint. Each dish was expertly plated and beyond delicious (this includes the warm freshly baked bread.) My favourite was the tuna tartare but all of the dishes were wonderful. The service is attentive and well timed; the pace is relaxed without feeling drawn out. You never feel rushed when eating there is an attention to detail that makes dining here special.

I visited Angler twice for lunch in 2025, and both visits were very good experiences.

The dining room is elegant and calm, filled with natural light and a relaxed, understated sense of luxury. It’s an ideal setting for focused, precise cooking without feeling formal or intimidating.

On both occasions, the tasting menu was excellent. The dishes were well balanced and clearly seafood-led, with clean flavours and very careful execution. Everything felt cohesive from start to finish, with particularly strong fish courses — precise, restrained, and confidently cooked.

Service was consistently polished and professional, with good pacing and clear explanations. Wine service was handled thoughtfully and complemented the food well.

Overall, Angler delivers exactly what one expects from a Michelin-starred restaurant: consistency, technical skill, and a calm confidence throughout. Both lunches were thoroughly enjoyable, and it’s a place I would happily return to again.

This was utter garbage. The advertised seafood feast turned out to be nothing more than a pan-fried fish fillet. Three out of five courses were desserts – is this the kind of menu a Michelin-starred restaurant should have? The order and speed of the dishes were also questionable. The first snack arrived while we were still looking at the menu! And the bread served before the first snack came during the wine discussion. Most egregiously, the sommelier recommended a sweet wine after all the subsequent desserts – were they afraid the desserts wouldn’t be sweet enough? This meal cost nearly £300 for two people; consider yourselves!

Absolutely outstanding.
Food was immaculate.
Tuna tartare – the tuna was very meaty and had some lovely asian ingredients around it. I loved the ginger on it.

Lobster raviolo – I had the lobster raviolo at restaurant Gordon Ramsay a few years ago and this one wins by a mile. The sauce was rich but light, it complimented the lobster so well. There was a slight kick to the sauce and lovely aroma of Thai basil. It was just so yummy.

Sea bass with roaster carrots – excellent fish, cooked with super crispy skin. The elements around it were to die for – especially the sauces.

“Surf and turf” cod and chicken – mindblown by this dish and all the elements around it. Smothered in a stunning sauce with lovely ceps mushrooms.

The desserts again, were just so amazing. We had a sorbet with plum and jelly as a palette cleanser. It had popping candy which was a super fun element.

Fig pavlova with a cinnamon sponge at the bottom, again great elements with it.

Chocolate cremeaux was a great finish to the meal. So many textures and although it was 70% dark chocolate on the bottom, it wasn’t overpowering how some chocolate desserts tend to be. All the flavours were well rounded and balanced.

Thank you to the FOH staff for taking care of us so well. We will definitely be back.

Truly enjoyed the tasting menu. Wonderful in every detail. Generous portion or, in fact, this is setting a good standard that any restaurant needs to give the dish substantial form and food to eat in order to taste and enjoy when providing a multiple course tasting menu. Lobster ravioli was my favourite. Pasta was al dente, and lobster meat inside was full of flavours and textures. The lobster bisque had a Thai style hint to it and some vege at the bottom to balance it out. Lamb main with the lamb sausage was a bit too strong in taste for me, but I liked it for the fact that the tasting menu was an experience to try out the chef’s specialities. The pre-dessert was phenomenal and was my second favourite for this menu. Welcome snacks and petit four had shown the chef had put in a lot of effort and creativity to make the meal memorable and fun.

Angler, a Michelin star seafood restaurant cervical British cuisine.
Elegant decor and ambience.
Very simple menu to choose from. We left satisfied but not convinced, with mixed feelings. The dessert, however, was outstanding.

The restaurant is located on the 7th floor of the South Place Hotel, just a short walk from Liverpool Street or Moorgate tube stations. After taking the lift up, we were greeted by the maître d’ and shown to a banquette table for two. Unfortunately, a large private dining group nearby created a lot of noise, which made conversation quite difficult.

The ambience was otherwise very pleasant—particularly with the rain outside trickling down the slanted window panes, adding to the atmosphere. The long, stylish dining room features an impressive metal-designed ceiling that catches the eye.

We had the “Taste of Autumn” menu: a three-course set menu with complimentary champagne (£55), with supplements for certain dishes.

Bread Course
Potato & polenta sourdough with whipped brown butter – as expected, very good.

Starter
Tuna Tartare
With ginger dressing, toasted sesame, and pepper purée.
An excellent dish—fresh, vibrant, and distinctly Asian in flavour, with the sesame and ginger complementing the tuna beautifully.

Main
Pork Belly
Served with smoked celeriac, Morteau sausage, and puy lentils.
The pork was cooked to perfection: tender meat, crisp skin, just enough fat, and accompanied by a delicate apple note and a lovely sauce. The lentils and crackling added great texture.
(Scottish Cod with caramelised cauliflower, lovage, and chicken butter sauce was available with a £15 supplement, but we did not try this.)

Dessert
70% Chocolate Crémeux
With milk chocolate nougat and salted caramel cream.
Outstanding—one of the best chocolate desserts I’ve had: rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced.

Extras
Three petits fours rounded off the meal nicely.

Drinks & Service
Service throughout was attentive and friendly. The complimentary champagne (Piper-Heidsieck) was a welcome touch.

Overall
Almost a perfect evening: excellent food, well-presented courses, stylish surroundings, and good service. The only downside was the intrusive noise from the private event, which significantly impacted the otherwise refined atmosphere.

Angler truly delivered a Michelin Star experience.
Everything was outstanding. The service and menu knowledge was exceptional all the way through. The room was comfortable and tables carefully placed. Every course was an incredibly and delicate burst of flavours in each mouthful. We had the tasting menu with matched wines and it is a must to experience.
This is almost a hidden gem and must be shouted about. The team here are perfect. Thank you for a great memory.
