While relentlessly online scouring the internet for more restaurant challenges, I discovered that Angie’s Coffee & More offers up a hearty Belly Buster breakfast challenge that had yet to be completed by ANYONE who attempted it! With a sense of competitive curiosity, I took the drive up to Torrington, CT with my mother to get to the bottom of this “belly busting” hullabaloo.

Angie’s Belly Buster Challenge consists of 3 of her trademark jumbo sized pancakes, an order of French toast, a heaping serving of home fries, six eggs any style, sausage, bacon, ham, and a coffee or juice. Those who can finish this all in 30 mins earn the meal for free and get a sweet t-shirt. Failure to finish in the allotted time gets you a $30 bill and a tummy filled with carbs and humiliation.

Let me tell you… when these JUMBO pancakes emerged hot from the kitchen, I could see why the Belly Buster claimed so many victims before me. I’ve never seen a STACK of such large pancakes in person before. My eyes bulged in shocked glee at such an impressively sweet sight. After a thorough gawking, I dove strictly into this immaculate breakfast spread lest it would get cold.

I didn’t really have a speed strategy for this challenge and opted to take my time and enjoy all of the different flavor and texture profiles this king sized breakfast had to offer. After a leisurely 21:15, I became the very first person to ever finish all 6.5lbs of Angie’s Belly Buster Challenge!

Thank you Angie for cooking one of the most delicious breakfasts I’ve ever had the pleasure to devour! I was thoroughly impressed by your generously gargantuan portions you served to the other customers outside of the challenge as well! Cannot believe your jumbo pancakes are available to order outside of the challenge! I might need to come back and try an even bigger stack of pancakes next time

Homey, on the small size, welcoming, breakfast (short lunch) restaurant. Family business. Great service. I had the sausage gravy on biscuits with lightly scrambled eggs and the homemade corned beef hash. The gravy had lots of sausage and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The corned beef hash was fried perfectly which hid the great proportion contained within. Frank’s hot sauce and napkins at the table, aggressive eaters like myself need that. Everything was as good or better tham mom used to make. ❤ (blueberry muffin was outstanding)

This place is a gem if you’re ever in the area! I’ve had my fair share of French toast but Miss Angie’s blueberry Texas French toast-phenomenal, I didn’t even need syrup. I also got the western omelette it has ham, peppers, onions and cheese; it was stuffed, just like I was by the end of my meal. Do yourself a favor and go there! It’s a small, comfy spot that’s probably jam packed on the weekends but on my Friday morning it wasn’t too bad.

Went here to celebrate my 50th. By myself. Absolutely psyched I went here. Ordered eggs and toast and corned beef and delicious coffee. Even though I spent a bit of time crying in the car over the fact of my new age….was pleasantly welcomed with great food and very lovely people. It’s not a “hopping spot” just great homemade delicious breakfast and some regulars who made my morning delightful. Highly recommend that corned beef hash!!! Will be back when I’m more accepting of this age thing. And omg the portions are HUGE!!! I want their pancakes!!!

Great local breakfast spot with delicious and plentiful portions. Great place to take your time while you enjoy a late breakfast and spent time with some friends. They have fresh homemade sour dough bread with garlic. Must try.

Small town restaurant with tremendous portions. Pancakes are as large as the plate with 2 pancakes in the order. Helen will take very good care of you.

I was visiting from New York City with a friend from London, and we made a pit stop during a road trip for brunch… and this no frills place was just what we needed.

I ordered the NY Strip and Eggs special, shared blueberry pancakes, and my friend had eggs and bacon. Hands down the best breakfast we’ve had in a long time. Just an old school joint that is serious about food quality. The blueberry pancakes were fluffy with fresh pockets of blueberries, the steak and eggs were actually cooked to perfection (medium rare/eggs over medium), bacon and eggs were perfect. Not to mention, the rye toast and coffee top of all off.

Let’s just say we will be back whenever we are in New England!
