Reviews
I’m a local and have recommended this place to countless people over the years, so it honestly feels disappointing (and a little embarrassing) to be writing this review.
We arrived at 6:15 and were told the buffet was closed. Because it was closing, my boyfriend was allowed to get one plate, and I grabbed a small portion of tortellini. We were still charged for a full buffet. Mine was later adjusted to a “side,” which was still $7. Had we known that upfront, we wouldn’t have gotten any buffet items at all. The buffet itself was still very full, which made what happened next even more concerning.
We both ordered NY Strips. I was served a ribeye instead. I’m not one to send food back, so I trimmed the fat and planned to eat it anyway. The steak looked off-color, but I assumed it was just because it was a different cut. After a few bites, it was very clear something was wrong—the steak was rotten. Even my boyfriend, who will eat food well past expiration, tasted it and agreed. We had no choice but to send it back.
After that, I felt sick and couldn’t eat the replacement steak. I had a horrible taste in my mouth the rest of the night. The next morning, I woke up with a very upset stomach, which I’m confident was from that bad steak. The meat was gray, and you could literally smell that it had gone bad. Whoever cooked it had to know. On top of that, it wasn’t even the cut I ordered—the server confirmed it was rung in correctly.
When the bill came, we were still charged for the buffet we didn’t properly get and for a steak that was rotten. To make matters worse, there was an automatic 20% gratuity added for just two people. Thankfully, our server truly was great, or I would have been even more upset.
The manager never came to the table to apologize for serving spoiled food.
We also had a coupon for a free entrée, so this was not an attempt to get a free meal—the steak already was. After this experience, I honestly don’t think I’ll ever be able to return.
The employees are very friendly. The gentelman working the buffet was extremely helpful and happy to help. Steaks were good and a great deal. Linguine and clams, not so much.
I ordered some soup, stuffed mushrooms, and a yellow fin tuna on pasta. The salad was good and I enjoyed their salad dressing. The breadsticks were ice cold, which was super disappointing and we only got 2 for between the two of us.
The mushrooms were amazing, soaked in butter. The soup was also great. Though the yellow fin tuna was super dry and had less seasoning than your white 80 year old grandma would use.
Our server was great, kept refills coming and made sure we were taken care of. I think it was just busy in the kitchen which is why the food wasnt the best for the main dish, but everything else was great.
During tourist season, I’d suggest simpler dishes and starters for sure.
