Cosy, understated bistro offering local & sustainable seafood, plus veggie options, wine & beer.
Angela’s / Dory’s
It’s little sister Dory’s, is a seafood bar – serving raw, pickled, cured and baked seafood and vegetable dishes – that overlooks Margate main sands. It …

We had a lovely meal at Angela’s! Tried the mussels, scallops, XL brill (to share), and a St Clement crumble (to share), plus a bottle of English white wine. The food was very very good and the seafood was very fresh, and the staff were lovely!
That said, it did feel quite pricey, very London-level prices, and while everything was good, I’m not totally sure the price matched the overall experience for Margate.
Would feel spot on if it were in London Fields

Wow, Wow, Wow, the best seafood we’ve ever had, no question. Gutted we don’t live locally or we’d be coming back again very soon. Super friendly service, fantastic cooking and proof that you get what you pay for. Look forward to coming back next time we’re down

Here is the translation into English:
“Exceptional food, the mussels and scallops were unforgettable. Excellent wine selection, a place where you truly feel special. A reservation is a must because it’s very small. The dessert was the well-deserved finale.”

Lovely little restaurant with amazing service and some of the best food I’ve had!

Amazing fish restaurant in Margate with a menu based on the freshly caught fish. The fish was prepared deliciously and had a fabulous soft bite. The staff was extremely friendly as one of our party had difficulty coping with the music in the restaurant they kindly turned it down. Definitely recommend going here!

We went for a family dinner after spending a day in Margate.
Firstly booking is essential. The establishment is small and they rarely have room for walk-ins. You also can’t be too early if you have a reservation.
Menu to the point but you need to be a seafood lover otherwise it’s not the restaurant for you.
Service was great. Ready to answer questions and generally helpful.
There’s no kids menu but they offer white fish, potatoes and greens…at least on the day we visited. Menu is seasonal and daily.
Starters are better £10-12, mains from £20 and desserts from £10.
We went all out so our bill was rather hefty. So be prepared. They did add service charge and a donation to their charity of choice which I would say added £30 between these two items.
The dishes themselves were absolutely delicious. From starters to desserts there’s nothing we could fault with anything.
We are a family that drinks mainly water so most of the cost was food.
I would highly recommend for at least one visit or for a special occasion or if you just have more money to splurge than we do. You certainly won’t be disappointed.
My children said we could make it an annual event . So go and enjoy yourself even if your pockets will be a little lighter!

This is the second time we have visited Angela’s and it has been a delight both times. High quality fresh fish cooked in simple yet interesting and satisfying ways. None of their sauces contain flour, therefore all of their main dishes were gluten free, or could be made gluten free. Unfortunately, they don’t offer gluten free bread, but this doesn’t have a huge impact on the menu choices available to people who are gluten free, as bread isn’t a very common feature anyway. You need to book before you visit, as both times we have come the restaurant has been full. In addition to all this, they also have a great alcohol free house made wine.

I had lunch at this restaurant recently and had a great experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made for a nice start. Everything I tried was delicious, but the highlight for me was the halibut and glazed carrots – perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I also enjoyed a very good orange wine by the glass, which paired beautifully with the dish.
A great find that I’d definitely recommend.

Overall, the food was okay the starters were better than the main courses. The mains were far too greasy and hard to finish. When I got home and looked back at the receipt, I was surprised to find that we’d been charged for two prawn dishes even though we only ordered one. It really left a bad impression ,such a shame.
