Great lunch special at Angaar! It is mix platter contain dal, rice , and naan and your option for vegetarian , chicken or lamb.
Delicious, satisfying, and a great value!

Portions were generous and everything came out fresh and hot. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Definitely a great spot for authentic, delicious Indian cuisine!

Ordered saffron chicken korma and chicken biriyani. The chicken was a bit dry in both. The curry was lacking in flavours. The biriyani had a weird, artificial taste. The roti and naan were also lifeless. If all this wasn’t enough, the prices are also unreasonably high.

I specifically asked if we need one or two mains for two people and was told to get two. I didn’t know the curry is served with rice and we ended up with too much food (which wouldn’t have been a problem if it wasn’t so dull).

Based on my experience, this place is run by people who have no care for authentic Indian food and no interest in serving their guests. I wish I could erase the memory of ever visiting here and ruining my otherwise happy day.

I ordered here for the first time, usually I order from Mughal or Karahi (both quite delicious). The food came fast but it was quite poor quality. The sauce for the butter chicken was very thin and had a cheap store bought spaghetti sauce taste (think Chef Boyardee) and the chicken was very dry. The vegetable samosas were okay, though sat in oil which dripped all over the bag. Basmati rice was super plain, no saffron or any flair. Garlic naan had little or no discernible garlic. Would try other more worthy Indian options in the UWS neighborhood. Food was delivered very quickly (but this been my experience with all Indian restaurants in the vicinity).

Everything was really great! We had quite the variety of dished including the chicken curry, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, lamb saagwala and the kashmiri roganjosh. The standout was the lamb saagwala. Highly recommend! You can’t go wrong with any of the dishes. The service was good. We were the only table there so everyone was very attentive. Overall, good quality, great service, reasonable price for the neighborhood.

This place rules!!! The food was awesome and extremely flavorful and TASTY!!! I’ve been here a few times and the quality is always top notch in every way! We had the hey Siri, how do you spell Mulligatawny Soup (I guess I’ll leave that in to show my poor spelling skills…), Paneer Makhani, Lamb Tikka Masala, the okra and a fish dish and lots of Naan ALL DELICIOUS!! The Lassi was very good as well! Everyone that works here is super nice and the person that took care of us was awesome! She rules!!! Can’t wait to come back here and I hope you come and support a GREAT restaurant!! Thanks!

Food was amazing, well priced and very filling. Our server was extremely friendly and we really enjoyed the small seating and cozy vibes.

Will 1000% come back when in Manhattan again.

Angaar Classic Indian Cuisine: A Symphony of Spices on the Upper West Side

Tucked unassumingly along Columbus Avenue, Angaar Classic Indian Cuisine unveils a world where time-honored recipes meet contemporary flair. The star of the menu — Mushroom Lemon Soup — captivates with its layered harmony of earthy creamy mushrooms, bright citrus zest, and the warmth of masala, a toasted spice blend. Each sip crescendos from creamy coconut undertones to a lively ginger-kissed finish, setting the stage for an exploration of their paratha repertoire.

For regulars and newcomers alike, the meal crescendos with a final plea: return for the soup, and order an additional mushroom soup to go, always ordered with an extra wedge of lemon to cut through the spice-kissed bliss.

The Service:
Had to wait 5 minutes for a table while on an extremely busy Sunday. I was notified and was seated promptly. Next time if possible, I will sit on the top floor. Our Server was extremely helpful. I forgot to ask the gentleman’s name.

Food:
Everything was exceptional. The goat biriyani was perfectly cooked. Right among of ingredients, tender lamb, slightly kick from a spice. Perfect Temperature.
We also got the Chicken Tikka with Garlic Nan. Best on a cold New York Day. Very tasty and good portion of food.
Got the Garlic Shrimp, very different but delicious.

I didn’t do a research before getting there and it turned out to be a hidden gem.

Will be returning.

Wonderful hidden gem! It only has 6 tables that fill very quickly. The best authentic Indian cuisine. The chicken curry is arguably the best I’ve ever had. Pair that with the garlic naan bread and you’ve got a great meal.
