Tried this place because of the 4.5 star reviews. Extremely disappointed. As others have already said, the tamales and tacos were super dry. The tortillas felt like they were just taken out of a pack of Mission tortillas from the grocery store and were maybe microwaved or grilled for like 10 seconds. Their salsa is very runny, basically flavored water. Everything was very bland tasting, dry, and the contents were crumbling. Wish I could get my $40 back. Only reason I didn’t give them 1 star is because the service was responsive.

We are not from Texas but love to visit San Antonio when we can. We were excited to have authentic barbacoa tacos as it is a favorite but something we don’t have back home. This place did not disappoint. The tacos were amazing and exactly what we hoped to find! I added guacamole to mine and their guacamole was some of the best I’ve had. These tacos were so good we went back to buy some meat to take back home with us. We will be back on our next trip.

Lost one star due to the corn tortillas being folded when placed in the bag- this caused majority of them to all “crack” in half.

Besides that, tried a new place for Lean Barbacoa , of course we drained the fat when we got home & it was Delicious! Corn Tortillas were still very fresh and tasty altho our tacos became mini tacos !

Would go again, highly recommend & to add we are picky with Barbacoa in San Antonio. Total cost was about $18 – 1Lb All lean, tortillas & Big Red

I was acknowledged right away, but I waited about 10 minutes for a half dozen tamales, which were very disappointing. The masa was so dry it literally fell apart before I could open it up. I’m not sure about the rest of the food but the tamales were not good for me.

Barbacoa was hot and fresh but not bad. I’ve had better but the service made up for that. They are very friendly. The menudo was ok but I’ve had way better. The menudo was chewy and not flavorful. Maybe I’ll stop by again for a second time as this may have been an off day for them.

I usually come in on Sundays. Most of the time I don’t have a problem, but I guess they got busy. I was eating their barbacoa and the meat had a bone in it.

First time trying – last time going.
Upon getting the food, the tortillas were cold, almost fridge like temperature, and folded up. Grease all over them. Then I pull the cup of barbacoa out of the bag, full of grease and I’m pretty sure I ordered “lean” but between the grease puddle and fatty pieces, not sure where the lean was.
Yes I get where barbacoa comes from and I understand it’s gonna have some grease but not an entire puddle sitting on top of the food… not mush fat pieces either.

Will not return and I hate I just lost $25 to the trash.
