Andrea Covino trained and cooked in his native Naples, Italy, before coming to the United States in 1987. He became the Executive Chef at Philadelphia’s Girasole when it opened in 1991, and also ran the kitchen of Girasole in Atlantic City until 1996. After a couple more stops, he opened his own place in 2004 in Newfield. In 2005, he opened Andrea Trattoria Italiana II in Sea Isle City . The menu features traditional fare from Naples, Italy. And, in true trattoria fashion, Andrea Trattoria Italiana is a family-run operation. Andrea Covino runs the kitchen, while his wife, Lucy, runs the front of house and prepares Mexican cuisine for catering.

went here because it was the only place on a saturday night with no wait. i see why now. prices are insanely high for the very tiny amount of food you get. our server was very loud and we had multiple people coming over to the table randomly and it was very weird. it also felt like we were constantly being listened to by all of the employees and just an overall uncomfortable environment.

Great service, every dish my party of six had was tasty and well prepared! The special fish of the night was exceptionally good.. Homemade deserts were off the charts good… We sat upstairs on a Monday and our servers had to come from downstairs as we were the only party upstairs, they never forgot us! I highly recommend this hidden gem in Cape May!

Prices were outrageous for smallest portions. The tables were super small and everything felt cramped but the service was so nice and the food was amazing. Just ridiculous to be charged $13 for literally 4 bites not strips but bites of chicken on top of a cup of noodles. They did warn us the portions were small. Really just had a problem with the price.

As a Cape May local and also someone that is well-traveled, this is not a place you want to go in Cape May. The portions are absurdly small and the veal saltimbocca dish I had was so overrun with sage that it completely destroyed the dish. That being said, the service was wonderful and it’s a beautiful building, but the food is generally what matters most and this was definitely lacking. This place is simply not worth the price tag whatsoever. It’s very mediocre food from a chef that is supposedly from Naples. Just go next door to 410 Bank Street, which is arguably the best restaurant in the town.

A lot of money for mostly small average food. Went with a party of 6. My pasta was seriously undercooked. There were many problems with the food at the table. The cesar salads was a couple pieces of lettuce in a cheese bowl. I think thats $13. A small portion of undercooked penne vodka is $22. Terrible expirience.

We were so happy to see a restaurant in this space again and we love Italian food. However the food here is very, very average. The pasta is only served as an appetizer with small portions. The service is mediocre at best and prices are high. It’s obvious they are just trying to turn tables and as people who dine often in Cape May we were very disappointed in our dinner here.
