⭐⭐⭐⭐I have had Italian food from all over so it’s not quite fair to compare. I will compare to my favorite spot in North Conway and my own taste.
The eggplant stack appetizer was very good. Both visual and taste. I would only say at the price point I expected more of a “stack”. 4 halves to me does not equal a stack especially when compared to entree portion sizes.
The warm Focaccia bread served warm at the table with olive oil is very good.
Our waitress refilled our bread.
My wife got an espresso martini and she said that was good.
Our main dishes were a full chicken parmesan and bolognese.
The chicken parmesan was good, not great. The chicken itself was a little thick.
It would be better if pounded out to be thinner like a cutlet. The sauce that came with my meal lacked flavor. It was good as was the chicken it was just lacking in Italian spices. The portion size was very good and the pasta was cooked to perfection.
The bolognese my wife said was good. The sauce was filled with meat and the pasta ( I tried as well) was cooked perfectly.)
We each got a desert as well. My piece of tiramisu though good paled in size to many I have ordered. The cream could be a bit lighter but all in all good.
Prices are in line with other Italian restaurants maybe even slightly less.
So, in summary. The food was good, the service was good. It would have been better through NO fault of the waitress if the restaurant staffed appropriately. ( She had way to many tables to herself) Thus giving service a 5 star rating.
Atmosphere is a tad cramped. Tables are very close together and chairs are hardwood with no padding. Padding can be very helpful especially for handicapped patrons.
Would we go back? Yes. Would we recommend, yes. Just a few small improvements and this is easily a 5⭐ restaurant. It’s a smaller place so I would recommend reservations.

We made a reservation and while it was not maxed out, even on a Thursday night in late August, better safe than sorry.
Bread basket tonight was herbed foccaccia, very good.
We split meatball and arancini apps. Meatballs were our preference between the two. Arancini were OK.
I had Tagliatelle Bolognese. It was decent enough just on this night it lacked depth. Others enjoyed eggplant parm and Chicken Milanese. I didn’t sample them so can’t comment.
I did like the ability to order half portion on the pasta dishes.
Wine choices were good, and we got good recommendations.
Overall, a good experience and I would return.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Ancora. My husband and I were on a “mommy and daddy getaway weekend” and decided to do date night roulette. We went to the restaurant and asked the waitress to surprise us and bring us her 2 favorite dishes. She was such a good sport and had so much fun with it. She was thoughtful and asked if we had any allergies or anything that we were totally opposed to. Not only did she bring us out 2 amazing dishes, she also brought us an appetizer which was “on the house” (eggplant parm). We ended up with the bolognese and the winter squash tortellini with homemade sausage. The food came out so fast and all of it was incredible and dishes we would never have chosen ourselves. I cannot rave enough about our experience. The service, atmosphere, drinks and food were all 10/10. Highly recommend!

Had the best dinner with my girls the other night! Our server was Teegan and he just took impeccable care of us. Our drinks were never empty, he made recommendations on appetizers to try, dishes to get, desserts we needed, and the bar to visit after dinner. The vibe was warm, cozy and relaxed but the food was delicious. This dinner kicked off what was a wonderful girls weekend and we will surely be back next time we visit the cute little town of Bridgton.

Amazing meal! Everything was outstanding. The menu was small and everything sounded amazing. Food was out quickly. We ordered the seafood risotto, duck pasta dish, and fried risotto balls. Everything was out of this world, definitely one of the best meals we’ve ever had. It was the perfect birthday meal for my boyfriend.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and I’m so grateful they have gluten free pasta – and they made the sauce dairy free as well (for my food allergies). Also, it was delicious and had enough to take home leftovers. My family loved the pizza and chicken Parm as well!

This was a cozy spot off the Main st. We got lucky and was able to walk in and score a table for two, but I would recommend reservations. There is indoor, outdoor and bar seating. The staff was busy, but extremely friendly and polite. We were not sure how this place would be, but the food was extremely good starting with the bread. It’s pretty rare that the bread makes an impression. The fried calamari was made to order, because I didn’t want peppers in it. The blueberry salad was enough for two. Our entrees were filling and the cannoli dessert was huge, so again, we shared. I would go back.

Tried to find something I didn’t like but couldn’t. Special Cod dish was spectacular. Bread was awesome and THANK YOU for adding veggies to the plates. Deserts great too. Only quibble is the menu is a bit limited vs a big establishment in Portland like Fore St. but that’s to be expected in a small town
