A breakfast staple for us! Whenever I’m in town, I come to this place! I absolutely enjoy all the food. Lots of great options and really yummy. Portion sizes are good. We also really enjoyed all the different drink options and seasonal flavors. The bakery items are also very delicious. Would recommend the chocolate croissant and the cinnamon roll!
Easy to order, food comes quick, and lots of seating at this particular location. Popular place for people to do some work. I really enjoy the cashew crema that comes with the avocado toast. The food overall just taste super fresh and flavorful! I would highly recommend.

We ordered mini donuts from Ancora for our June 2025 wedding and they were a huge hit. The blueberry lavender donuts are our absolute favorite, so being able to serve them at our wedding felt extra special — and they did not disappoint.

Mary was easy to work with, responsive, and helpful throughout the ordering process. She answered our questions, accommodated a gluten-free option for one of our guests, and made pickup simple the morning of the wedding.

The donuts were fresh, beautiful, and completely devoured by our guests. We received so many compliments! If you’re considering a dessert alternative to cake — especially if you love lavender — Ancora is an easy yes.

I ordered takeout as I have done multiple times. The receipt I was emailed said to pick it up at 11:06. I got there at 11:08 and had to wait until 11:20 to receive the food. An additional 15 minute wait post the designated time means their time estimates on their toast app need to be updated. To add to the disappointment the sandwich that I paid $2 extra to have bacon on it didn’t even include the bacon. I wasted 15 min waiting there for an order that wasn’t even correct.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a coffee, a smoothie, a cup of soup, and a bagel. Everything was good- the soup was not really warm and the soup cup was not even close to full. The smoothie was ok- nothing special for $11 -which I was surprised by the high prices. Overall just overly expensive for average product.

Stopped in for breakfast after my bus route. I ordered the Hella Stella breakfast sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. It is made with Stella’s spicy cheese bread. OMG

Ancora is a wonderful little cafe amd bakery. We love coming here for breakfast, usually get the chorizo hash and then one of the seasonal items. Right now(12/2025) there is a ginger orange pancakes dish. It is very tasty but very sweet, might be good to share instead of trying to have for one person.

*Elegant & Tasteful: The Ancora Experience*

Preface: I am surprised they weren’t busier as how great this restaurant is. This bright and inviting restaurant has a full bakery as well as an espresso counter, providing the utmost quality food, drinks, and baked goods. I can’t get enough of this place.

Food: I had the chorizo hash and everything was on point. From spice, to seasonings, to texture, this is the way to start your day. My only complaint is that I didn’t get more.

Service: Quick and efficient. Everyone was moving getting orders out.

Ambiance: Bright and inviting. Pristine with a southern couture feel.

Overall: 10/10 would go to again. Definitely one of the best breakfast spots I’ve been to.

TLDR: A takeout breakfast burrito took 20 minute to come out while 2 other guests who arrived after me got their food before I did. The breakfast burrito was cold when I bit into it immediately once I got to my car.

I arrived on Saturday morning with excitement because I heard great things and it was my first time trying Ancora. I ordered a Breakfast Burrito and a Morning Bun to go. Got the Morning Bun right away since it was in the display case and the Breakfast Burrito I imagine would take 10-15 minute max, if not sooner. I was really hungry and needed to get to a meeting by 10AM so I was watching the clock pretty closely.

As I waited I observed the cafe atmosphere – it was cozy with multiple families and friend groups enjoying brunch. It felt like a home for Madisonians of all walks of life which I appreciated. I kept my eye on the counter as well incase my order would be called out.

As I watched, 2 groups of people arrived within 3 minutes of my order. By the 12th minute mark, I watched their food delivered to both the groups. I figured something might have gone wrong and they might be remaking my food so I decided to go up and ask moments after I saw the second group get served. I was told that it was going to only be a few more minutes without any indication of why.

I was a little hangry that it was taking this long but I gave them the benefit of the doubt – local cafe that means a lot to our city, sometimes things aren’t going to go perfectly. I figured it would be nice, warm, and tasty and all my elevated energy will melt away at the first bite.

When my order was announced, I was met with a smile and a sorry for the delay. Great customer service throughout besides the time it took. When I got to my car, unwrapped the burrito and took a bite, I was taken aback because it was cold. Not even slightly warm, sitting on a heat rack – straight up cold as if it was sitting on a counter for the last 15 minute before it was brought out. Its one thing to take 20 minutes for a breakfast burrito, another thing to serve others who arrive after me before my food comes out, but the fact the food was cold was something that drove me to write this review. I know everyone is trying their best and sometimes mistakes get made but these are a series of mistakes that indicate a sincere lack of care, at least for my order.
