This review is so overdue! My husband and I visited London in May 2025, and during our stay we were lucky enough to discover this absolute gem of a pub. We ended up coming back almost every evening for dinner because everything about the place was just perfect.

The food was consistently delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. But what truly made our visits memorable was the outstanding service. A special thank you to Wojtek, the manager, who was warm, welcoming, and wonderful to chat with. And to Lee, who was training as a new waiter at the time—his service was excellent, attentive, and genuinely kind.

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to unwind after long days exploring the city. Highly recommend to anyone visiting London!

This pub has a nice atmosphere and old world charm, the only let down was the food. I had the pie and mash and the mash was a disaster, had a glue like texture from being over processed. The wedge of cabbage as a side was average at best. My wife had the steak ciabatta and it was very average. Overall would recommend for drinks but not for food.

A Cozy Old Pub by the Thames
This pub has such a charming, traditional atmosphere — super cozy and full of character. As tourists from Amsterdam, we really enjoyed the great beer and delicious food. The people here made us feel so welcome, and we had a good laugh with the regulars at the bar. This visit was truly one of the highlights of our trip to London!

Always a must-visit whenever I’m in London. Hands down, some of the best meat pies in the city. The pub is especially cozy this time of year, beautifully decorated with festive holiday touches that make it even more inviting. Friendly staff, delicious food, and a classic London pub atmosphere that never disappoints.

We loved this pub. So close to Shakespeare’s Globe and with a wonderful view of the Thames. We ended up going there for drinks twice and for dinner once. The steak and ale pie and the sticky toffee pudding were so good.

Beautiful Christmassy and cozy pub. Loved our evening so much that we ended up staying for food. The staff were super efficient and the service was great. We were especially well looked after by one the management team (Lee). Thanks for the lovely and personalised service.

Loved visiting The Anchor Bankside! Such a historic spot and one of the oldest original pubs in the area. The atmosphere was super festive and lively, and the food was surprisingly good. It does get busy, so getting a seat can be a bit tricky, but you order at the bar and then grab a table once one opens up. Totally worth it for the vibe and history alone.

What a lovely pub. I love the nooks & crannies and the atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and helpful – especially Lee who was so amusing!

Our food came so quickly which was great and was so reasonably priced and tasty.

I’d really recommend it.

Lovely place at the Thames with direct view if you sit outside. The fish & chips were great and both the food and drinks came fast. Good music as well!

We had marked this placing walking along the riverfront on our first day in London, and finally made it back three days later for dinner. HIGHLY recommend! Great atmosphere, good quality/tasty dinner, and we were pleased with the pricing. And, you can’t beat the location right along the River Thames.

We will definitely return!
