We dined at Anchor & Ale for the first time tonight to celebrate my husband’s birthday! What a treat. The food was excellent! We ordered the Grilled Platter for two and loved everything on it. I highly rate the calamari! So much flavour. The owner took the time to talk to us and make us feel very welcome in a nice, relaxed environment. Customer service was outstanding. We will definitely be back! A hidden gem of a restaurant for the Hills District. (Note for the owner – I had no reaction to the food at all – just to reassure you. We appreciate your attentiveness. We did not realise there was flour in the lobster.)

We had an extremely good seafood family meal on a Thursday night in the middle of a heatwave. The restaurant was the perfect temperature despite the heat and was comfortable week presented. The chef/owner DJ was so welcoming and hospitable with genuine warmth and excitement to share his ideas for the sauce pairing and food. His enthusiasm for his new business was endearing.
But most importantly the food was delicious. Sydney rock oysters, sourdoigh dipping bread, seafood platter spilling over with crab, mussels, scallops, lobster, corn, potatos, radish in a buttery devious sauce.
We’ll definitely return.

Im a tourist who love seafood and I must say I enjoyed their seafood platter. You get your money’s worth! Great service, very attentive.. I didn’t even know our server was the owner. And he makes the food as well! How hands on is that! Ended the night with their dessert! Which is a must try! I ordered Pavlova and my friend had lemon custard I think. Amazing night and amazing food. Definitely did not disappoint.

Delicious food and friendly service.
Found this hidden gem tucked away behind Castle Hill Mall, only 5 mins walk from the metro station. It is one of the best seafood restaurants I have been to in the local area.
The “hot and cold seafood platter” is so delicious and fresh you can taste the ocean.
The “surf and turf” was a juicy tender sirloin steak, cook to perfection with two jumbo sized king prawns on top.
Staff came around to check on our meals and also to change our plates as it was filling up with the shells from our platter. They were quite genuinely when they asked us for feedback and really listened to what we had to say.
I highly recommend this place to anyone who not only enjoys good seafood, but also likes a good sirloin steak.

Delicious food, a refreshing blend of asian flavours and fresh seafood. My fiancé and I ordered the hot and cold plater for two and it did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and welcoming always checking on us. Thoroughly enjoyed and we will definitely be back!

I doubt you will be disappointed coming here. Enticing menu. Quality produce, cooked perfectly. Friendly, welcoming host. Will definitely return. We parked across the road at the shopping centre, which was frantically busy on a Saturday lunch time, but will try and investigate their onsite parking next time. The starters and mains are a generous size. The desserts were much more petite, so if you have a little room left go for it. We ate inside, but they do have outdoor which is fully undercover. This particular Saturday lunch time was quiet so we enjoyed fast service and little noise from other customers.

Visited Anchor and Ale after seeing a recommendation on a local facebook page, and it did not disappoint! Owner DJ was incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming. The food was outstanding, with surprisingly huge portions especially the seafood boil platter, a must-try for seafood lovers. Even the lunch specials are generous. For the price and service, it’s an absolute steal. DJ even took the time to chat with us. Don’t miss the pudding with ice cream for dessert, it’s delicious!

Came here after receiving a flyer in the mail advertising a new restaurant. Service was super lovely but unfortunately was very slow due to an unexpected rush of customers on a Friday night. We waited almost an hour for food but as an apology were given a bowl of fries on the house, which we appreciated. The food was quite nice, although some dishes had gone a little cold while waiting to be served together for the table. The menu is on the pricier side, with most mains costing about $35-40. Not sure the taste quite justified the cost.

This will be your new favourite seafood restaurant for sure! Everything is SO fresh and impeccably plated, and the decor has great nautical charm.
I loved every meal and couldn’t fault a thing. Highly recommend!

Food was really really good. We had the salmon sashimi, scallops, lobster and the balmain bug risotto. The staff we very attentive. The food came out so fast. It was fresh, perfectly seasoned and big portion sizes.
The decor and location aren’t amazing but they have gone to alot of effort to make it look “seaside”. And the food and service make up for it.
One thing they could improve is the wine list, especially the whites. The selection isnt great. But overall we will go back purely for the food!
