Had lunch at a relatively New Mexican restaurant in Lee’s Summit called Ancho and Agave. We were seated immediately and drink orders were taken promptly. Ordered an appetizer of fried pickles that were not served until 15 minutes after we received our lunch order. By that time we were all full so most of them were left. We were all happy with our food orders and the amount of food we received but not so much with the time it took to get it. All in all it was good and we will probably try them again to see if they worked out the service issues, but really no better than Jose Peppers in Lees Summit or Ranch Grande in Blue Springs. Americanized Mexican food is pretty much all the same. The differences are in the salsa, the amount of food you get for your money and service.

My best friend and I like to get dinner to catch up every week to two weeks, and it’s fun for us to try new places. We ordered the chicken and steak fajitas and shared it. They were incredible, and we had a ton left over. She ordered the barbacoa taco and I ordered the cauliflower taco – both were amazing. We also ordered the strawberry-pineapple marg and the jalapeño peach marg, and both were delicious. The menu is very unique, and we loved that. The atmosphere is also really pleasing. The music was at a good level for conversation, and the decor was upscale. We will definitely be back.

Ask for Dana! He’s an amazing server. Just fantastic. His information, recommendations and flawless execution were outstanding.

This was our first time at Ancho & Agave. It’s a small chain from IL. SO good!! It’s elevated Mexican food. Some items are very similar to what we find in Mexico. Of course, queso dip doesn’t exist in Mexico, but we love it and this one is good.

The fajitas, enchiladas and Gringo burrito (with ground beef) were all simply delicious. So tasty!!

Nearly every single thing here is made to order from scratch. So you can customize for preferences or allergies. The ancho salsa is spectacular. I didn’t have to ask for hotter sauce, as they have it right on the table. Red, green, and black habanero sauces. I had never seen the black one before and it was HOT! Loved it!!

If it’s you and your partner, or a buddy and you each have 2 drinks (FANTASTIC margaritas!), plan on dropping $100+. It ain’t cheap.

This will be our special treat Mexican spot. Too rich for every day. We’ll stick with Teocali or El Alteño as usual. But for a real treat or special occasion, Ancho & Agave is superb top shelf food and drink. I highly recommend it.

1st time in. Very overpriced for portion sizes. We ordered the 3 guacamole appetizer. The pina was very good; pineapple, jicama and pomegranate seeds. The classic was loaded with jalapeños and the Senor Hector was corn based. When I asked what was in the veggie fajitas the server could not tell me. My husband ordered the fish taco, barbacoa and cauliflower tacos. He had to send the cauliflower taco back. It never came back out from the kitchen. The salsa was smoky and the chips were thick. Eclectic music – on the loud side for lunch. Clean ladies room.

0 guest recovery, 0 drink/chip refills. We sat so long we made friends with the tables beside us. All 3 tables had the exact same experience, none of us will be back.

First time trying Ancho & Agave, located in the Summit Fair shopping area in Lee’s Summit, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish.

We were greeted by friendly hostesses and loved the comfortable couch waiting area. We ended up sitting at the bar, where Joseph and Cory took great care of us. They were very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made excellent recommendations — even steering us away from a couple of items they felt weren’t as strong, which we really appreciated.

For drinks, I had the jalapeño margarita — well balanced, flavorful, and not overly spicy. My wife had a beer.

We started with the house salsa and chips. The salsa is smoky and thick, not a traditional Mexican salsa, mild but very good. The house chips were thick, crunchy, and fresh. We also ordered the Signature Salsa Trio:
• Avocado Serrano – very flavorful with mild heat
• Black bean roasted corn – thick, chunky, and delicious with mild heat
• Habanero – a slow-building heat, hot but not overwhelming, with great flavor

For my entrée, I ordered the Dos Enchiladas with mesquite-smoked chicken and steak. I can’t say enough about these — incredibly layered flavors and absolutely delicious. The tortillas were thick, homemade, and really stood out.

My wife had two tacos:
• Smoked pork belly street taco – absolutely amazing with tons of flavor
• Crispy Baja fish avenue taco – perfectly cooked fish with great flavor. She added the chipotle cream sauce on the side, which was a fantastic addition.

We were too full for dessert this time, but we’ll definitely make room on our next visit.

Everything on the menu is made in-house, including the tortillas (the only exception being the house chips due to volume). The atmosphere and décor are beautiful, the service was spot on, and the location is great.

We will definitely be back!

Very nice place with great food. My first time here so my son and I tried several items. We had a table full of food. I had the Birria Quesadilla with black beans and rice. My son had the Chicken Quesadilla. We shared the Queso and chips. We also had the Esquites (Street Corn), and the Senor Hector Guacamole. Everything was excellent and of course we had plenty of leftovers. Our server Geoffrey was very attentive and friendly. I noticed the table next to us had the steak fajitas that looked great. I might have to get them next time.

Some of the best Mexican food I have had since I visited Texas. Super great taste on everything I had and the presentation was amazing only second to the taste. Our waitress Kristen was by far one of the best waitresses I have had the pleasure of having at any restaurant we have been to, she did everything correctly from suggesting menu items, to making sure that our food wasn’t rushed out all at once, her timing on checking that we had everything we needed was superb and not overboard, and she didn’t rush us with the check at the end, very impressive service over all. We really enjoyed our anniversary there tonight.

The atmosphere is unique and overall relaxing. The chips and salsa were full of flavors! The hubby had the Birria tacos and said they were also packed full of flavor. I enjoyed the Chicken Asada And Steak Asada tacos, which were totally different than I had ever had, but I loved them! Our server was also very friendly and helpful with our questions and the managers were consistently walking around to make sure everyone was happy! Overall great experience, we will be back!

Yes, you’re seeing stars! From food, service and a chill vibe, this new spot has it all. At only a week old this place was super busy and I foresee it staying that way. Great location to stop in when shopping. Chicken and shrimp enchilada with the best Molè in town. Drinks were unique. Bar staff is exceptional. Just go. GO NOW!

Lee’s Summit (Mock Dinner Experience) – My wife and I had the pleasure of attending a mock dinner pre-opening at the new Ancho & Agave location in Lee’s Summit this past Friday, November 14th, and we were absolutely blown away.

For what was essentially a practice run, the team, the atmosphere, and most importantly, the food, were all operating at a level that surpassed every other Mexican restaurant in town.

From the moment we walked in, the “tacos + amigos + tequila” concept truly delivered an impressive experience. The service was polished and attentive, which is incredibly rare for a soft opening, and the kitchen executed flawlessly. The quality and depth of flavor in every dish we tried were exceptional—a true step above the standard Mexican fare often found locally.

We went in hoping for a good new spot, but we left completely convinced. Ancho & Agave has immediately set a new standard in Lee’s Summit.
