NEM NUONG REVIEW:
I don’t want to be rude and I hate basically flaming someone’s hard work, but… I just couldn’t finish this. I ordered a nem nuong banh mi—this is my classic order and I get this whenever I find a place that serves it.
However, and I don’t know how to put this delicately: it tasted like SPAM. Like SPAM from a can. As if this wasn’t shocking enough, the vegetables on it… tasted like Sam’s Club coleslaw????!!??!!? HUH!??! WHAT?!?! Omg…. I was shocked to say the least. The combination was… not great. I couldn’t finish my sandwich and I tried to give the meat bits to my dog but she did not want it (highly unusual–she will eat practically anything).
I don’t really know why it tasted like this. I did have my husband try it before telling him my thoughts in order to get an unbiased second opinion, but he had the same reaction I did.
I just don’t know, man. I am baffled. The nem nuong banh mi’s I usually have come with grilled slices of marinated pork, pickled long sliced carrots + daikon, cilantro, cucumber, peppers, and I pay a little extra for avocado on it too if they have it.
The one I got from here came with shredded carrots + cabbage, cilantro leaves, peppers (which strangely were not spicy at all), and that weird… mystery meat. Which, I have to state, was ungrilled. So just raw slices of this interesting meat.
I don’t know. They did put a *lot* of meat, so they are very generous for the price if you are looking for quantity.
Anyway, that’s my two cents. Maybe it’s a different regional recipe that I’m not used to—you may love it! The only way to know is to try it for yourself. Um but as for me it’ll be a no, sorry 🙁
BAKERY REVIEW:
So delicious! Yum! Everything from the bakery was great! 100/10! My husband and kids all agree.
CUSTOMER SERVICE REVIEW:
The lady behind the counter seemed rushed to get us out of her way. The customer behind us appeared to be a friend of hers or something and she wanted us to move so she could talk to them. Which, meh, fine. I get it. Been there. But also… bleh. Not great customer service.
OVERALL:
Make your own judgements. You’ll never know unless you try it. We probably won’t come back again even for the delicious bakery just because there are a million other options in this city but it’s nice that we tried it at least once. Again I am really sorry I didn’t like it and please give them a chance anyway because you might like it

So many rave reviews led me to this local banh mi spot in Portland, and wow—I’m glad I stopped by An Xuyen! The Pork Belly Banh Mi is a winner: tender, ramen-style braised pork that melts in your mouth. The sandwich isn’t huge, but at $6.75, it’s still an amazing deal (honestly, I could eat two!).

The char siu steamed bun is just as good as everyone says—juicy BBQ pork wrapped in a fluffy, lightly sweet bun. Total must-try. I also grabbed some donuts to go, and the black sesame one was deliciously chewy, nutty, and perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Tiny, cozy Vietnamese shop vibes—nothing fancy, but always packed thanks to the great prices and tasty bites. Definitely worth a stop! ⭐️

Im in love with the guava cookies! They are the most tender and delicious cookies. Makes me think it was labor intensive bc you can taste all I f the ingredients.
Baked to perfection and and always fresh.
I have had a beef sandwich one as well.
But if I’m in the area- I swing by and get those wonderful cookies- the ladies is very helpful and they offer a variety of foods.

Oh the number of tasty items. Get something here for an enjoyable treat. We got a bbq pork steamed bun, an egg ban mi, an ube mochi donut, a butter pecan walnut crisp and a thousand layer coconut ube. The bun was a typical steamed bun. The ban mi was interesting but very tasty, replacing some of the veggies with some hard boiled eggs. The crisp was tasty with the center being flaky sweet and moist all at the same time. The donut was exactly as its name should be. The thousand layer was like a thick croissant filled with ube and coconut.

Amazing baked Asian goods!! The bbq steamed pork bun was one of my favorites. Honestly tried a little bit of everything haha ube cheesecake was delicious but very rich so you must share that with someone. Their pork belly bahn mi was great, the cha siu bahn mi meat was kinda dry. Iced coffee was tasty but super sweet. And lastly their garlic cheese bread was huge and delicious!! Had actual garlic pieces and some sort of sweet aioli sauce that made it amazing. We went back twice on our trip. Highly recommend

There is almost always a line at this bakery, but it is well worth the wait. The chicken and lemongrass sandwich is absolutely delicious. The pickled carrots and crisp cucumber on the barbecue pork are perfect. Don’t miss the unusual mochi donuts, including the black sesame peanut. They are a very specific taste and texture. Staff is super friendly and efficient.

It was so good! Prices were outrageously good and fair. I was blown away by how beautiful the desserts were and how creative. They were so yummy and I am excited to come back and get many more. The ube donut was by far my favorite. So simple but so yummy and soft. The matcha cheesecake was a fun one, not my favorite but it was pretty so can’t complain too much. Loved the pork bun. Amazing, especially for the price! I’m looking to try the sandwiches next, they seemed like a big hit when I was there!

This place is absolutely incredible. Jaw-dropping selection of baked goods and killer banh mi. The mung bean buns are possibly the best I’ve ever had. Not super sweet and a perfect texture.

Both vegetarian versions of bahn mi are amazing! The bread was nice and crunchy on the outside but super soft on the inside (they are baked fresh daily!). We liked the vegetarian meat version slightly more than the tofu one because the flavors were a little stronger but they were both excellent! Service was actually fairly quick. Didn’t try the pastries but they looked amazing so we’ll definitely come back for those! They only have a couple of picnic tables out front, and just 4 or 5 parking spots, so it’s definitely best to just pick up and take it to go.

first time trying banh mi, but I was blown away at both the price and quality. For reference, bahn mi can be about $12 or more, it was 6.75 here. And was the real stuff with a family running the show. Long line, good sign. Next time I will try the many different desserts
