Interesting small hole in the wall that will have the street snacks and dishes authentic to Vietnam. The salted egg cake is something of a delicious delight that would only typically be seen made in family homes. The quail egg and other egg roll dishes are tasty and best when fresh. Worth a visit and if you’re in the mood for fresh street foods.

Great place for ăn vặt. Love their variety of bánh tráng. This is a must-try place if you travel from other states and crave for bánh tráng. I love their decor too. Staff is friendly and attentive. I don’t know why there were those negative reviews about service, but I have never had one bad service for both times I came there during my short trip. I definitely saw some very mean and rude customers, but the register girl handled the situations perfectly with respect.

They have so many types of banh trang, so I tried the banh trang phoi suong tron cay. It was super super super salty. I could not believe they made it that salty. I was quite shock. They should understand their product that the banh trang phoi suong (soft/fresh rice paper) already have salt and they should reduce salt in the mixture. So terrible. I will never come back this place. My inner mouth even felt hurt after 1 bite because of the salt. I left all and my husband still ate some bites.
The shop is quite noisy because of the loud music.
Staff is not friendly at all.

Highly recommended to call them in advance to ensure they’re open sometimes and even order in advance to avoid coming there. You cannot order due to the last call being 30 mins before closing time.
If you pay by cash or Venmo, you will get 10% off, but please double-check with them. Paying by card is a minimum of $10 and has no discount.
The line can be long sometimes, so ensure to call to order, and you can grab some to-go packages while waiting in line.

Overall: 4.4/5
The store is cute with low table seating reminiscent of Vietnam. An Vat OC’s specialty is banh Trang since they have so many types, both fresh and packaged. We recommend asking the cashier what the most popular items are. We got com chay and a green packaged fried looking rice thing to go for $20.66 which is pretty steep but the items we ate at the restaurant were really good and decent pricing.
Com Chay: It was good but it’s not as umami as the ones in the Bay Area. There also wasn’t as much topping either so I wouldn’t get this again.
Ca Vien Xao Mam Toi ($8.99): This was the least anticipated item for me but it ended up being one of the best items here. It comes out in two colors. The white fish balls were a bit smaller than the yellow balls so I wonder if they fry them differently. I definitely had a preference for one over the other but my husband did not.
Trung Cut Rim Me ($7.99): Wow, we were hesitant on getting the tamarind version since we were worried the sauce would be too sour but it was actually really delicious and went perfectly with the qual eggs! This is actually one of our favorite dishes of the 4 we tried.
Cuon Bo ($7.99): This was recommended as being one of the popular items here but it was actually not as good as the quail eggs or fried fish balls. It had a pretty presentation but it was on the blander side, and there was no beef (reference photo). I assume the sauce has butter in it since it was a thick coagulated yellow blob. This sauce was pretty gross so we didn’t use it and dipped our rolls in the fish ball or quail egg sauces.
Overall, food was really good and they have dishes we’ve rarely seen anywhere else so we will be coming back! Definitely want to try their banh Trang tron the next time we’re in town 🙂

This is a great place to try out some traditional Vietnamese street food. They have some food offerings that I have not seen in any other places in Little Saigon. They also have a great drink selection with many different milk teas and of course Vietnamese coffee. Lots of prepackaged things to go as well. Great place to go if you want a taste of Vietnamese street food with some tasty drinks to go with them!
