Absolutely loved our dinner here at An An. It’s in the cutest little house, which interestingly was the childhood home of the designer of the Canadian flag! The decor is done up so cozily and intimate. Upstairs is especially nice looking! Friendly staff. I enjoyed the beef carpaccio, the shaking beef on fries, and eggs French dip banh mi was phenomenal. Will definitely be coming back here.

To dine in the historic house of the person who designed the flag of Canada is a nice experience.
The food was an interesting experience. The vegetarian spring rolls had a pleasant distinct taste that was very unique. It was a bit too oily and I preferred to have a little bigger portion specially because I ordered extra meat and vegetables. The chicken had a balanced spice and was tasty. The noodles were very cold as if they were prepared long before.

Food was decent and drinks were delicious. Would highly recommend the beef carpaccio and banh mi sub trio! The other dishes (signature pho, vermicelli, shaking beef, and goi cuon) were alright, nothing notable. Service was good and loved the dinner atmosphere. Restaurant is on the smaller side, so I’d advise on making a reservation ahead. They only have about three dedicated parking stalls on the right side, so you’ll likely need to find street parking if driving.

Friendly staff, delicious food and great vibes! My girlfriend and I split the Goi Cuon with prawns and thought that the peanut sauce was great! She ordered their special pho that comes with bone marrow while I ordered their An An Signature Pho and was not disappointed. We left the restaurant satisfied and will definitely be coming back to try their big shareable pho bowl next time! Although the restaurant is dimly lit, a bit small (the lady behind me kept accidentally hitting my chair), and not your traditional pho restaurant – the place has it’s own charm and the food speaks for itself!

Our second time here and I can say the experience has been much better 🙂 We had a long wait (an hour+) for our food to arrive the first time we were here during the summer, but we had less than a 30 min wait this time around. Our friendly servers would frequently do check-in with us regarding the food and if we needed anything else, where this was also not the case the first time we dined. I’d advise anyone planning to go here to make a reservation at least a day before; They do have ample seating on their ground and 2nd floors, but it’s best to reserve a spot beforehand as it is a smaller restaurant and it’s been a full house both times we’ve dined here. Alfresco seating is available during the summer.
Food has been consistently amazing! They have an extensive menu that features classic and fusion Vietnamese cuisine, with plenty of options for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. While it is on the pricier side, you do get your money’s worth (I assume the downtown location does factor into the pricing). We got the parmesan calamari and spring rolls (forgot the actual name for it) to share and they were both plenty enough for a 4-person party. The crispiness in both were done just right! Soft enough for any person in your party who might have dental problems. For mains, we had the Not Your College Noodle (think your go-to noodles, but make it bougie with medium-rare pieces of steak), Signature Pho (as per my dad, “the best pho I’ve had in the city), Soft Shell Crab Fried Rice (great option to get if you’re craving rice), and the Vietnamese Shaking Beef (great option for picky eaters). The salads that come with the meals taste great, and I say this as a person who normally doesn’t eat salads. I had the Lemon Kreme cocktail to drink and it’s a good option for those who like their vodka sweet!
Ambience-wise, 9/10. The decorative pieces and overall aesthetic of the place is so versatile that it’s both appropriate for a family meal or a date night. My dad did have to use his phone light to read through the menu since the lights are a bit dimmer during dinner. Besides that, no other complaints!
As we dined during winter, it was warm enough with the heating, but my lower half did get a bit cold (I was seating on the plush seats against the wall near the bar area). I do feel I can attribute that to the older age of the establishment though.
Overall, our visit here was perfect. An An is a downtown gem. Thank you to the lovely ladies who served my family tonight! Hopefully we can see staff name tags next time so we can properly give kudos when we dine here again 🙂

Another signature go to place of me and my friends 🙂 A lot of pho places in the city are very similar and aren’t as memorable. However, An A Kitchen truly is one of the best dynamic Vietnamese Style Restaurant I ever tried. The blend of traditional cuisine blended in such unique ways really brings out a different kind of vibe and style to your meal. Food and drinks are delicious, you cannot go wrong with this restaurant whatsoever.

I am so excited that we found this place, I think it’ll be a new go-to for us. Our friends came here for happy hour one day and raved about it, so we tried it for dinner the next night and were not disappointed. When we first got there, it was HOT inside. We had just taken a long walk and that very likely contributed, (and I may or may not also be a lady of a “certain age”) but in any case, I didn’t want to eat a hot soup so I ordered what was probably the most boring thing on the menu – Vietnamese Shaking Beef, but by the time the food came, the temperature had moderated (or I had) and I was disappointed not to be getting pho. Having said that, it was still very tasty. Tender chunks of tenderloin beef with perfectly al dente peppers and onions with a side of jasmine rice. We started with the pork and crab spring rolls which are done as one big one cut into 6 pieces = less wrapping and more delicious stuffing. SO good. It was what hubs had that was the star of the show…Bone Marrow Oxtail Pho! And he ordered it spicy so they substituted some satay broth. It was DELICIOUS!! Such rich and developed flavors. The couple sitting next to us have been there many times and gave us recommendations. The wine choice is super basic but the cocktails look awesome. We have already lined up what we’re ordering the next three times we go. The menu is SO creative. Service was super quick and professional too. Can’t wait to go back!!

Celebrated special occasions here and all the food are amazing!. Could not recommend this enough to friends and families. Always a wonderful experience dining here especially if you enjoy thai food experience.
Resto is clean even if it’s old and the staff are very accomodating, friendly and fast to serve the food and happy as well to your additional request like to take a photo plus the view of the towers downtown is nice.
Parking is available on the side of the resto for free but if full street parking is your only option.
Prices are somewhat affordable if on a group. Will always come back here for dining and or special day. A big thank you to the owner that made our celebration a very special one by giving us a treat.
Keep up the good work, food and a place to enjoy! Thank you

Incredible, mouth-watering food for a great price with very generous portions. I think I found my new favourite restaurant in Calgary, the atmosphere inside was so cozy and this was some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. We ordered the cocktail flight, coconut curry pho with seafood, an an bun cha ha noi, and the shaken steak fries and I would highly recommend every single item. So excited to come back here to try more of the menu!
