First, I want to say that I realize things happen and this obviously wasn’t done with malicious intent, but it is still gross.
I’ve been eating at Amsterdam Cafe (the original) for over 20 years. Today, at this location there was a spider fried onto my French fries. I had someone else look from another table look at it to make sure I wasn’t crazy.
I discreetly called the manager over and told him I had a spider fried on my fry. He said, “we will take care of it”.
Well, Im actually more upset at the fact that when he “took care of it” he still charged me for my drink!!! So, when he brought back my receipt, my order total was updated to $3.29. I’m not saying any of this to sound entitled that I expected a free meal, but, with a spider fried onto my French fry why even charge me anything?

The online menu was misleading. I thought we were going into a nice sit-down restaurant where a waiter or waitress comes to the table and takes your order, but nope — we were wrong.
We ordered appetizers. I ordered a salad, and my husband ordered the chicken Alfredo. We received the lobster rolls, and that should not be done to any lobster. I received my salad, and it was not appetizing either.
I finally had to ask where my husband’s order was. She didn’t put it in because she didn’t hear him.
This is where a waiter or waitress would have been a better idea. After spending $40 and only taking a couple of bites, we left so my husband could eat somewhere else. I lost my appetite and I feel sick, worried the lobster might not be good.

We went to the new location and the family enjoyed our meals. The service was done with a smile, the food was good, the cafe was nice/clean, and the atmosphere was pleasurable. I would have liked some of the food options that the older location has, but that just gives me a reason to visit that busier location for a scenery change.

We ordered from Uber Eats and my burger patty was grainy, the chicken in the southwest bowl was dry, and there was barely any Alfredo sauce on the kids pasta. Parmesan fries and cheesecake was good.

Top notch customer service and even better food. Specifically want to shout out the staff from today, 12/9/25 because they definitely went above and beyond with my order. I didn’t get the name of the girl I spoke to on the phone, but she was awesome and was so nice helping me get my order taken care of. THANK YOU!!

Like the restaurant and location. Food quality was good but I paid $19 for a salad bowl that was very small quantity. So many other local/chain restaurants have 2x the size of salad for less $$.

The Moore’s Mill / Ogletree location of Amsterdam Cafe is a favorite spot of ours for lunch! The service is fast and the food is always fresh & delicious!
You may be familiar with the original Amsterdam Cafe in downtown Auburn – an Auburn staple and one of our favorites. While this secondary location does offer a slightly condensed menu, all of the favorites are still available and it’s a much more convenient location!
They offer indoor and outdoor seating – something I wish more places did! – and a full bar, too. It’s perfect for a lunch meeting or lunch date even, but their takeout is quick too!
I will always recommend the Crab Cake & Avocado sandwich from here – if you haven’t had it, it’s a must try! The Amsterdam Turkey Wrap is also a great standard option! That being said, I haven’t had anything here that wasn’t delicious, so try it all! (They also make a phenomenal margarita!)

Raw steak on the steak sandwich (like inedible raw not red but still good-still cold to the touch in the middle).
Three orders sat on the counter for 20 minutes getting cold while they waited on a kids chicken fingers.
Then their manager phone line is not answered and the to-go line hangs up after 1 ring. Don’t expect them to do anything if what you order is wrong or poorly prepared.
