I was very happy with my dinner at Amrit. I ordered the special Punjabi kadhi (onion pakoras in yogurt-based gravy) and Kashmiri naan (stuffed with coconut and dry fruits). The kadhi was flavourful and rich but not heavy or oily. I ordered it medium-hot and the spice level was just what I wanted. The naan also came out just right with a thick layer of delicious coconut-based stuffing inside. Portions are pretty generous. For me, it wasn’t quite enough to split into two meals, but I was very full when I finished. Less than $20 before tip.
I was there on a Monday, early evening, and was seated right away. The restaurant was moderately busy but not loud. Nice classy but comfortable atmosphere. This was right when school started at IU. My server was very polite.
Another highlight is that it seems very vegan friendly, with a number of clearly labelled vegan dishes on the menu.

We sat down and waited about 20 minutes for someone to take our order. The food was speedy and spectacular, but we did watch them take orders of at least 3 tables before us that came in after us. A table that came in about 30 minutes after us were served, got their food and ate, and left before we even paid the bill. Not to mention we watched them refill everyone’s water BUT our table. Yes, we’re black. So um if you’re black maybe don’t expect the best customer service if you dine in, as they may be a tad bit racist. DoorDash it though, the food really is good.

I hadn’t eaten here since high school because I live so far now. I’m a doordasher and I get a lot of deliveries for this place, today I had to end my shift early to come back and order. I wish I dined in because tikka masala is messy but I don’t regret a thing, not even the bit I got on my shirt. I got the garlic naan too, which was the perfect amount of garlic I got medium spicy tikka masala and it was the perfect amount of heat. Again I wish I dined in to get the best of the experience instead of sitting in my car like a goblin but I knew what I was getting myself into and I’ll probably do it again. I’m glad I finally made myself go back to get food. There’s still so many things I want to try here.

I love this place! The employees are wonderful! I’ve ordered for myself, several times, and love the lamb vindaloo and curry. I stopped in once with my young children together place a to-go order for a not-spicy version for my kids to try, and the staff brought them a complimentary small mango lassi to have while we waited. Absolutely wonderful service and the food is amazing. If you’re wondering about the naan… get the garlic! So good!

I enjoyed the food. I like how they ask your preferences for each dish for spiciness on a scale of 1-5. Chicken 65 was a good appetiser. And the platter was also decent. Serving sizes for the curries are generous. The Kulfi tasted stale but everything else was fresh.

An excellent Indian spot on the square. Big kudos to them for being open for those of us who were stranded during Winter Storm Fern in January 2026. I’ll always be appreciative for their hospitality and willingness to feed hungry IU fans and students in adverse conditions.

This is our favorite place in Bloomington, Indiana. We eat there weekly. The food is consistently well prepared. Goat Biryani and Tandoori Salmon are our favorites. Goat Curry, Hyderabadi Lamb, Garlic Naan, Samosas, all good. Great service too. Friendly and informative.
