Top notch food & service. Nice wine list. The Cavatappi Bolognese was perfectly al dente and savory. The Amore salad was perfection. Easy parking and complimentary valet service! Can’t go wrong.

Amore is our favorite Rochester restaurant, so it was the perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary. Outstanding food, from apps to dessert. The octopus and calamari were delicious, as was the pizza special and the lemon tart. The service was super-attentive, with great recommendations provided throughout the meal. Make it your next dinner destination!

It is our go-to Italian restaurant. Some of our favorite dishes there are fried calamari and truffle mushroom pizza. The food has been consistently high-quality for the past six/seven years whenever we visited. The portion has decreased though. We noticed this especially this time we visited. There was less calamari compared to the previous times when we ordered.

We’ve been to Amore several times, and the food has always been very good. I finally decided to write a review because of our waitress. If you go to Amore ask for Christy’s table. They were busy and she was helping train another person. She made as much time for us as we needed. She knew the drink and food menu very well and was able to answer any questions. Christy was warm and welcoming. We all plan on returning to Amore.

Went to Amore on a whim on Friday night and was able to walk right in without a reservation. The restaurant space was well-decorated and inviting. The menu was very simple and I think I would have liked to see a bit more variety. My chicken portion was huge!

Where do I start? I got a reservation for 2. When we were seated, they gave us a small table, barely enough room for your menu and a beverage! And then we were seated next to a table 2 feet away. In fact the people at the table actually joked about us joining them. There was no need for us to be seated that close to them. The place was practically empty due to it being a Wednesday night. I should of asked to be seated elsewhere but I didn’t. My fault. And then I had to use the restroom and happen to run into the manager for directions. He said follow me and presented me to this very long corridor. Go all the way to the end and the bathroom is on the left. As I was walking I noticed I was entering the wegmans store bathrooms…….all the way at the end of the store. I couldn’t believe it. A while later I ran into an employee of the Wegmans store and he showed me to the restaurant bathrooms. 30 feet away from our table. Then I was told I couldn’t use the Restaurant bathrooms because they were for a private party. What is next? Use the bathrooms at the gas station across the street? Maybe if you’re gonna rent out a room for a party, tell them they need to share the facilities or build more restrooms! It’s to bad about this…..The food was really good but my experience wasn’t!!!

The place and service are superb. However, the food was not to my expectation. The short ribs were overcooked and barely saved taste wise by the au jus. The pizza was in the charr side and the staff overlooked it. The pasta dish which I cannot remember the name exactly but it was truffle oil and mushroom based, the amount of oil was overpowering. the creme brûlée was more like a chocolate ganache brûlée. Lastly, the gelato was the star of the evening but I forgot to take that picture. Pistachio gelato was 10-10. Unfortunately, just gelato isnt enough to come back to this place. I will prefer “Next door”.

I thought perhaps I was being too critical but I just came home from a different meal out and it was absolutely fantastic. It compelled me to write this review of the a meal I had here several months back. I had ordered the beef short rib and it was so void of any flavor it was almost criminal. I remember thinking “don’t they test the menu every once in a while to be sure things are getting seasoned correctly etc?” Everything was bland, including the vegetables. For the price I expected something quite nice and it was a real let down. The chef needs to evaluate what’s coming out of that kitchen…

Honestly, it’s a 3.25 but that’s not an option so I went with a 3. I’ll start with the food. The oysters were very tasty – 5/5 on those. The salad was good but not spectacular if a bit overpriced, so I’ll go with a 3.5. The bread was the garlic Tuscan bread, which everyone knows is delightful. I’d read in reviews before going that the bread is super good, so I was confused when we weren’t offered any. I had to ask and then they gave us…2 super thin slices cut in half. It was weird. Garlic Tuscan bread – 5/5 always. The serving of it and needing to ask to even get that? 1/5. The pizza was fine. It tasted exactly the same as the customizable pizzas that you can get at the to-go area of Wegmans. The up-charge in the restaurant wasn’t worth it. We expected something at least a little better than they sell at the pizza counter. 2.5/5. The mushroom pasta with cream sauce was delicious! 5/5. If there was a reason I’d go back, it’s this dish.
On to the service: We reserved a spot in the bar area as it was a last minute reservation. It’s a weird spot because you can see the food court area in Wegmans super nearby which is a little odd, but no big deal. We asked the person who seated us if there might be a low top available but there wasn’t. No problem at all, I totally understand and know where I booked, so all was well. When he seated us he said “while we don’t have a table in the back, our service is excellent in the bar area.” Unfortunately, that wasn’t really accurate. At most times the bartender had one person at the bar, another group at a high top table, and had to get drinks for the rest of the place. The lack of great service definitely wasn’t her fault as she had no help. Now, if this was a case of being short-staffed like lots of places are right now, I wouldn’t even be mentioning it. However, throughout most of our meal there were 2-4 employees hanging out at the podium by the front door chatting and laughing. Again, totally cool but no one was helping the bartender who was buried. When we were looking around to ask for drinks, bread, etc., they’d look at us and go back to talking. I’m pretty sure at least one was a manager. One was the guy who told us what excellent service they had. We spent a lot of the meal needing water refilled, another drink, etc. and feeling bad about having to get the attention of the bartender. Why is the service section so long? Wegmans prides itself of excellent customer service and this totally missed the mark. When I was deciding whether to go with a 3 or 4, I went 3 due to this. It’s one thing to not have enough folks at work to keep up. It’s another to let a co-worker get buried while you hang out and ignore them and the customers 30 feet away.
