The only reason to go here is if you want a good Dosa that is fairly priced. This place as been better in past years in terms of food quality. Service is good. It was quite cold inside for March 2 and snow outside. Almost all customers inside were wearing jackets and heavy coats – yes, it was cold inside. Not many customers for 1pm weekday lunch time.
I got a Dosa and Dahi Vada which was ready quickly. The Dosa was super crispy but very brittle. It broke into pieces when I tried to get through it. I do like my Dosa crispy on the outside but it should have a little give so you can wrap the masala (potato stuffing) inside without it shattering. The Sambar was hot and delicious. The accompanying sauces were average.
Dahi vada was also just average. Lacked flavor despite the sauces.

I came here on a Sunday at lunch time (11:30) and it was empty and I was the only person. I got their special of the day which had a bunch of different dishes and rice, flat bread and a papadon. It was so cold outside and all the food just absolutely warmed my insides. So many spices so many different flavors of hot and cold and the steam just literally coming from the dishes. Such a good price for everything and will definitely make this a frequented lunch spot in Vienna.

I am not a vegeterian but tried this place out for work lunch. One of my colleague ordered foods for the group since it was my first time trying southern indian food.

Most foods were flavorful. My favorite dish was dosas. You dip it into a soup/sauce and they go really well together. It’s a bit exotic but think of it like you dip a piece of bread into a bowl of tomato basil soup. I liked it.

Service was ok. It’s a self-serve, order at the counter type restaurant; however, staffs were not friendly or didn’t seem happy to answer any questions.

Atmosphere is ok. It has plenty of parking spaces and lots of sits. They do get filled up quickly during lunch hours.

Overall, it was a great experience to try southern indian food. I can come back here to have dosas again.

Fast and tasty restaurant serving pretty good dosa and other such foods. The restaurant was easy to get to and pretty calm and the food came out fast. Sense of community was also definitely there at the restaurant. The lassi was pretty well-made too. Overall would come back again.

This is a self serve restaurant with disposable cutlery – just a PSA, didn’t bother us! We tried the South Indian thali, the vada and the Mysore masala dosa. The dosa was great, the chutney tasted a bit stale (made in the morning perhaps) for the first round of dosa, but was on point for the second round (probably a new batch). The vada was reheated but tasted great, thali was good value for money as well. The paysam was amazing, highly recommend! Parking was easy and free, there were spots in front of the restaurant.

This a causal eatery that serves good South Indian food!
I ordered veg cutlets, dosas, and even tried the Gulab Jamuns and ras malai. The dosas were crispy, with potato filling served with chutney and sambar. The apps and Gulab jamuns were good as well. I wouldn’t recommend Ras malai as it didn’t taste fresh.

The service is very quick and counter top style. This is no-fuss casual restaurant that serves good quality Indian food! I would highly recommend this spot if you are looking to grab a bite!

Amma’s Kitchen in Vienna, VA is a great spot if you’re craving home-style South Indian vegetarian food without breaking the bank. The dosas here are crispy and flavorful—hard to find anywhere else in town for the same price! The menu features a ton of classics, like masala dosa, rava dosa, chole bhatura, and idli, all served up with tasty coconut chutney and tangy sambar. Everything’s super casual, from the ordering at the counter to eating on paper plates, so it’s perfect for a quick, no-fuss lunch or dinner with friends or family. Some folks love how fast the service is and the friendly cashier, while others wish the food were a bit hotter or came out faster, especially during busy hours. The rava dosa gets high marks for that lacey, crispy texture, and the sweets like rasmalai are a nice touch to finish off your meal. Prices are low enough to let you try a bunch of dishes, so definitely come hungry!
