Usually, the order is not that bad and I can pick out what is wrong, but today I ordered a burrito grande with carnitas. The burrito is a flour tortilla with carnitas, beans, and rice on the inside. On the top is supposed to be white queso, onions, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and guacamole.
In the special instructions, I asked “No onions, No lettuce. Can I get the toppings on the side please”
Today, inside my burrito was chorizo, onions, rice, with hardly any carnitas. I have attached a picture for reference.
It’s frustrating because I would like to continue to support this location but I’m done ordering out.
The staff is very good.
The atmosphere is kind of krazy and did I say redneck on the weekends at least so if you like that than have fun.
I will start my breakdown with the positive things I can say. The views were wonderful. The server was top tier (the hostess was sassy though.) If you are looking for somewhere to go for a quick drink and some chips and salsa, this is a great spot. Also, and this is the only reason they got 2* for food instead of 1, the chunky guacamole was great. The salsa is also pretty decent.
And now for the reasons why I will not recommend this restaurant. My first and foremost complaint is that the food is all clearly reheated/canned/purchased pre-made (except the chunky guacamole). This was apparent by the flavor (lack thereof technically.) I have never tasted food that bland being called Mexican food. It was also obvious because it came out literally 5 minutes (or less) after ordering. We had a good sized order because we had never been here so it should have been at least 20 minutes if it were even semi freshly prepared. I had the Tour de Mexico. I tried every type of meat they had and they were all definitely canned/packaged. There is no way it was anything but premade at that speed of delivery. My second complaint is much smaller but my “brewed iced tea” was literally water. Even when I dumped some on my plate, the color was so faint it’s no wonder it didn’t have any flavor. I have a sensitive palate and even I barely tasted anything beyond water.
I reiterate that this is a great spot for a casual drink with a friend with a great view, but that is it.
Food: really good for being a fast delivery. I couldn’t tell if it was terrible quality (canned, frozen) but i enjoyed what I got so.. My wife didn’t care for hers but that falls mostly on the service because she didnt get what she ordered. Segway to.. SERVICE: I dont want to fault our waitress too much because I am a human being. The table next to us was a young man our waitress was… really smitten with and they talked a lot. She did apologize for that but again.. who can blame her haha. She was attentive to our needs and took care of our questions and extra requests beyond our order. Atmosphere: really the only thing going for this place is the view. Feels rinkydink but was functional.
So many friends, families, and dates have been at this restaurant after a day on the river or just because it’s the perfect setting for a great meal with the view of the Iskand Cove marine.
You will see the lake water, boats coming and going with lots of happy faces.
I got the cheese Enchiladas with rice and beans as usual, but the tamales and chicken tacos or #7 lunch special were delicious as well. I also had the mandarin jarritos to drink, which is straight from Mexico with cane sugar to drink.
It is always a pleasure seeing this place and having a great meal.
