So glad my coworker told me about this place! Dropped in for a late lunch, because I was recommended to try their authentic pressure-cooked habanero chicken. No disappointment here! If you love spicy food, this is the plate to try! My sides were rice, beans and corn cake-equally delicious! The food tastes homemade. I was here between 2 & 3pm, so the atmosphere wasn’t as lively, but the music choices were terrific! Restrooms were clean, and service is top-notch. They have the best sweet tea! I will definitely come back again!

Came for the fried chicken! Really solid chicken over here. Won’t disappoint at all. Crispy outside, juicy inside, seasoned. Nothing to complain about. The sides on the other hand, could use some work. The fries were okay and the mashed potatoes w/ gravy had very little flavor. Maybe the other side options would’ve been better. On the brighter side, service was really good! Didn’t have any problems with anyone. Overall, Amigo Joes is surprisingly a great place with very good chicken! Will be back to try some of their other mexican dishes.

I ordered the Burrito Bandera. I ordered it with beef (chicken is also an option). It was a good sized burrito (12”), filled with ground beef and beans. The beef was seasoned well, and had nice flavor. It was topped with three sauces – ranchero salsa, cheese, and salsa verde. I thought all three were great. I’ll definitely get this again!
Our waiter was great, and very attentive. The restaurant was clean and bright and colorful. We’ll be back!

Okay, I am absolutely blown away by our first experience with this place, let me explain.

So my wife and I ordered two ‘Amigo Joe’s Samplers’ and ‘Seafood Burrito’ with chips and salsa from Grubhub for delivery, and they absolutely over delivered. First and foremost the food tastes amazing, and the portion sizes are absolutely massive! We paid for one order of chips (which was $2.00) and they gave us 3 WHOLE bags of chips, with a very hefty portion of salsa, that is outstanding.

The real deal maker for me though was the fact that in our seafood burrito, on the side of the platter that it came in was stuffing from the burrito that they couldn’t fit on the burrito so they gave it to us anyways without throwing it away, they absolutely didn’t have to do that but that is absolutely awesome that they did, thank you Amigo Joes for the wonderful experience and generous portion sizes, we will absolutely be ordering from here again!

Saw this place was rated as having the “best fried chicken” in St. Louis so we had to see what’s going on! Ordered the $14.99 regular fried chicken dinner that came with 4 sizeable pieces: a wing, a drumstick, a thigh, and a breast along with choice of 2 sides so I got mashed potatoes w/gravy and the corn.

The fried chicken was really good with an ultra crispy skin and served freshly hot… though a smiiiiidge on the bit-too-salty side. Best in STL though??!

The corn was good enough for the can it came from and the mashed potatoes were about the same. I ate them with the chicken a la KFC Famous Bowl style. IYKYK!

They had margs on special for $2.75, just know they taste like $2.75 and not one penny more! Lol I would come here again to give the chicken another shot and I’d elevate my marg order to try one of their specialities.

Came for the chicken. Tried buffalo non breaded and plain breaded. Both were good, however; the plain blew the buffalo out the water 10 times over. It made you want to stand up and say WHO COOKED THIS!! amazing. The burrito and tacos were good as well. The shots, I tried almost all of them. I recommend the Washington Apple!

I have only eaten here once and I very much enjoyed it.

Fried Chicken- I had the spicy version of this and it was great. The perfect amount of spice for the dish. I was surprised at how often the fried chicken was recommended since this is a Mexican restaurant, but now I can see why. Very good.

I ordered fried chicken in a Mexican restaurant in an Italian neighborhood. Does this sound strange? I thought so too but the waitress swore up and down that it was their most popular item on the menu and not to be missed.

I would like nothing more than to be able to tell the everyone all about the chicken…but I can’t. Why not? Mainly because the waitress never managed to produce a meal even though we spent about an hour in the restaurant.

All in all, a very miserable experience and entirely disappointing given that I recommended the place based on what I saw on Yelp. Sadly, the restaurant did not live up to their reputation. Win some – lose some…

Man, I dream about their habanero fried chicken. I would eat here weekly if I didn’t live so far away! Otherwise they are a pretty average Mexican restaurant. Cadillac Margaritas are pretty good but the regular lime ones are meh. Chips are a little stale, salsa is meh. But that fried chicken is my favorite in STL.

First time here at Amigi Joe’s Mexican restaurant. Overall pretty good, the chips they brought out were good quality, the salsa while a little more liquid than I like was very good. Dinner itself was tasty I had the fajita steak taco salad and my dinner partner had enchiladas Verde with chicken. Which she said was very well seasoned. Good little spot enjoyed myself and price wasn’t to bad.
