The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, servicemembers and communities, the Legion currently has about 2.6 million members in 14,000 posts worldwide. In contrast to other veterans organizations, the Legion offers a number of local programs and activities to strengthen its commitment to our nation’s grass roots and the people we serve. The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization. The Sugar Hill Post 127 is one of the largest posts in Georgia and serves the community, frequently holding events to which the public are invited.

The bartenders and kitchen staff here are excellent — they’re the reason this place deserves five stars. They work hard, they’re respectful, and they keep everything running the way it should.
Management, on the other hand, is a completely different story. I’m saying this bluntly: the person calling himself the manager made me very uncomfortable. As a woman, I did not feel at ease around him. During my visit, I watched him go behind the bar and pour himself what looked like a very long, extremely heavy-handed pour of liquor — easily around a 15-second dump — then mix it with an energy drink, use part of the can, and put the rest back in the cooler. The whole thing felt unprofessional and out of place, especially from someone who’s supposed to be in charge.
He didn’t seem steady or fully aware, and it absolutely affected the atmosphere. This place has a lot of potential, but the “manager’s” behavior takes away from what the rest of the staff works so hard to maintain.
If leadership matched the quality of the bartenders and kitchen crew, this would be a five-star spot across the board.
They are open to the public as well as members. You will not be disappointed. Have a drink or two while you eat.
I had the Piggy Cheese Steak with Chili Cheese Fries and my wife had The Big Dawg with regular fries. She calls me the big dawg. I mean she should.
Totally worth the trip to Sugar Hill. It’s located south of Pirkle Park at the top of the hill on Suwanee Dam Road but you can’t see the building from the road. You can see it from the golf course though!
I got the Cheese steak with jalapeños, as is my way. Do it! Japs make the philly!
There’s the option to baconate anything. Bacon , need I say more.
The prices are fantastic, the food is out of this world and the Legion a great place to go. This is not what you think for an American Legion.
Stop in and share some time with a vet, enjoy some good food and good drinks.
